Re: Way cool, a Bulova tripod table clock ......

I have one of these clocks and while it is cool I have two things to say about it.

    * The lume on the the hands and dial is very good but the face is quite deep so if the light source isn't direct onto the face - say the light's on the ceiling and the clock is on a bench or low table - you will find that part of the dial doesn't get enough direct light to glow.
    * Be careful about the batteries in this clock: the pendulum and clock mechanisms use separate (AA) batteries and on mine the pendulum stopped working after a few weeks. I discovered the alkaline battery for the pendulum had leaked. The clock battery (same brand of alkaline) is, however, still okay a few months later. Maybe the battery was a dud or the pendulum mechanism consumes the power differently; I don't really know. I've since seen clocks where the instructions say to only use plain carbon zinc batteries, because alkaline will damage the movement. Maybe this is such a movement.

(I didn't replace the battery in the pendulum anyway because I'd been finding it a bit distracting; it sits on top of a big speaker enclosure to the right of my TV and I kept finding myself watching it instead of the TV.)
