    60 min. fast?!

A vintage time-only Leonidas listed for sale online includes a minor detail - it runs 60 min. fast a day. Wouldn't that be the outer end of extreme? What could produce such a time discrepancy? Magnetism? Voodoo? And perhaps more importantly, is it within the realm of repair? Not sure if a pic would help, but here you go:

Thanks for any insight you may have.

My fathers watch with an eta 2452 sat in a draw for 23 years and when I finally got around to wind it it gained 20 mins. per hour. Makes your 60 mins look slow eh.
All it needed was a clean / service and after 3 years use gains app. 2/3 mins per week.

The regulator is set for the fastest speed, although in this case it may not do enough to countermand the issue. Providing there are not serious problems a clean and service may restore this to daily workng condition.

I'm looking forward to finding out if some TLC will do the trick. Thanks.

I'd look to the regulator and indexing mechanism as well as the hairspring (possibly hungup or magnetized). Hopefully the pivots are not worn giving it poor amplitude and running fast. Have you had any luck with this?

Thanks, jcoffin. I imagine I would need an analyzer to check amplitude and hope to get one some day.

But not for this watch. The vintage watch forum experts were concerned of authenticity, and when I posed the issue to the Catawiki auctioneer, he ultimately pulled the lot from the auction.

Nevertheless, forum responses to my inquiry have been helpful, and I'm sure will come in handy eventually.
