If a pallet fork is compatible will other parts be? vintage watch repair

    Hi,

I'm trying to repair an old citizen 8100 chrono. I think it needs a new escape wheel and pallet fork.

According to jules borel a few other calibres share the same pallet fork. But for the escape wheel I only see the 8110a being compatible. There aren't any tech guides for the other calibres listed that share the same pallet fork so I can't be sure if the escape etc will work.

If the pallet fork fits would/should other parts also be compatible including the escape wheel or rather the chances of it being compatible could be higher?

Please post a high resolution photo of your escape wheel showing its pivots.

Post photos of the bridge and plate clearing showing the type of jewelling for the escape wheel pivots.

A shot of the fork would be good also.

Are the hole jewels intact for the pallet arbor and escape wheel pivots.

Do the alternate calibers have end jewels for the escape wheel pivots.

Nivarox supplied almost all the escapements to the Swiss industry for most of the 20th century. They had about 5 different ones. A given escapement would be interchangeable from the escape wheel to the roller table, but from there the staff/balance can be different and from the escape wheel pinion back different. A. Schild had several calibers with the same escapement and even same wheels and pinions but different heights.

Citizen almost certainly similar. Maybe more frugal in their use of same parts across calibers. Only way to know for sure is to try.

Short answer to your question..."not necessarily".
Regarding escape wheel...why don't you just order the correct one fro JB?
