    King seiko parts and advice

I bought a King Seiko online. Unfortunately the description didn't tell the whole story on its condition.

Before digging into the watch I can already tell that the winding stem is bent at the crown.

Also, the date quickset does not function.

    It is a model 5625-7111.

Where is a good place to purchase winding stems for King Seikos?

I have read a lot about the quickset breaking on these watches, but have not found any pictures showing the problem area.

Are the quickset parts available to repair or is it just assumed this feature no longer works on these watches?

Any guidance would be appreciated as this will be my first KS.

    Stem: MATERIAL CGI UTILITY
Not aware of quickset issues other than requirement that they be assembled correctly. See 5625 pdf here:https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&p...WE0NmY1ZDZlZmE

Oh, wow. That 5625 part list is very helpful.

    Thanks.

I finally got around to looking into the quickset issue on this king seiko. As you can see in the pictures below, the original white plastic quickset gear had cracked.

To make the repair, I milled a new gear from delrin. The quickset mechanism seems to work quite well now.

Very impressive. I wish I had these machinist tools and skills. Handsome watch. The stem is super easy to replace, but may have to be cut to length.

Thanks. As an amateur I appreciate your kind words.

I have discovered that the stem is straight, but the crown is bent! I guess I'll have to look for a crown somewhere as I was unable to straighten it out without fear of damage.

Actually I have a question. I thought delrin was a white opaque material like the original gear. Yeah I suppose I can Wiki it, but you are obviously knowledgeable in this area.

WOW, I'm impressed I have the same problem and have a prototype coming from Vintage Time Australia – SEIKO and CITIZEN Specialists. I posted my restoration here and it was quite a journey.

I just picked up a 4402-8000 in excellent un-restored condition. These are some great watches
