Confused Looking for a spare watch case to fit Peseux 7001 10 1/2 ligne movement..help!

    Hi All

I'm looking to make my missus a watch. I'm interested in using a Peseux/ETA 7001 movement which is a 10 1/2 ligne movement, but I'm having trouble finding a case to fit it. I want to put it in a small and slim watch case, and maybe add a leather strap on (18mm lug width) but all I can find out there in the market are big chunky cases.

    Anyone able to help?

    Much Appreciated

This is a great movement and a fortuitous selection. Due to its thinness and low stem height, this movement will fit in cases that virtually no automatic and few other manual winds will. In fact, if you use a concave dial it will fit in some cases designed for quartz works. Stem height reduction fitting can be accomplished by placing a spacer in front of the dial and a movement ring can be added to shim the movement against the caseback. I don't know of any databases for aftermarket wristwatch case dimensions so you're pretty much reduced to test fitting. You can start by reviewing Otto Frei and then the rest of the usual suspects.

    Good luck!

Thanks, yeah I kind of guessed this wasn't a straight forward task.

I was looking at ofrei.com to buy the Peseux movement, but they don't sell any cases that house this movement. Your comments are interesting though, and I'll take them on board :) Thanks!

If you are looking for a caseback stamped "Peseux 7001", I doubt that you will find it. In your position I would be looking for any case into which this caliber could be readily adapted. Thank you for your interent in my comments. My opinions on this general topic are still developing as I have only tried placing a few hundred different calibers in a few thousand different cases.
