Minute hand off 25 minutes... eta 2878, how to remove - reset minute hand?

    Greetings everyone,

Hope this is the correct forum to post on. I have been lurking for a while but as of so far have not needed to post anything. Well recently I purchased a luminox 1807 automatic watch and the minute hand is 25 minutes too fast. For example, lets say it is suppose to be 12:00. All the hands are suppose to line up directly on the 12:00 tic mark. Well on my watch if its 12:00 the hour hand and second hand will line up directly on 12:00 tic mark, but the minute hand will be at the 25 minute tic mark. Is it hard for a novice to take out the movement from the case and re-position the minute hand so that everything lines up directly at 12:00? Other then that the watch keeps excellent time for an automatic.

    Thanks

I'd suggest A) send it back for warranty work, or if no warranty for some reason pay a professional a small fee to do it :)

Did you buy it brand new recently? , there must be warranty on it then

Thanks for the reply. Ya I bought it and it is brand new. But I got it on ebay and got it for a phenomenal price. It's luminox, so since it was not an authorized dealer I do not have a warranty on it. Other then the hands being off it keeps excellent time for an auto so far. Much better then my seiko (not gaining, losing as much time per day) Do you think the little local repair shops in the mall can handle this ok? How much would someone typically charge? Usually I am good at mechanical things and taking them apart and putting them together, what ever it may be, but from what I gathered it didn't sound too hard to do. But I have never dug into a watch before and know that everything is super tiny and intricate, but I wouldn't mind getting the right tools to do so.

Welcome to the watchmaking forum incawatcher!

Learn and recite (often) our current mantra:

    All hope is lost!
This (whatever it is) is soooo difficult . . .
    I too will surely fail!
And I am afraid to try.

Now that we have that nonsense out of the way, please review this post Getting Started: Guide to Watchmaking Tools and indicate if you are interested in proceeding with your watchmaking education. There will be some collateral damage but the rewards will be in proportion to the effort you put into the process.

What do you think? Are you ready to post photos so we can start the disassembly?

Thanks for that link, that was Perfect. Let me read through it thoroughly and total the parts out to see if the investment is worth it. This is not my only watch so I am thinking that if I have the tools and the know how that I could make repairs or do maintenance on my current watches when needed and future watches.
