    Power reserve complication

I recently decided to look into how power reserve complications work.

Initially I speculated that they directly measured the torque in the mainspring barrel. After looking at several drawings of this feature, it looks like the power reserve simply displays the percentage of available mainspring barrel winding angle.

Is this understanding correct or am I missing something?

    Thanks!
