Re: How to spot a fake Tissot

Hi everyone, I currently own a Tissot T-Touch Expert and recently made a bid and won a Tissot Le Locle on eBay. I was just wondering if I could ask you guys to check to see if the watch was authentic provided pictures once the watch arrives, or is there watchuseek forum etiquette I should know about? Thanks!

That seems awfully vintage to me, I could be wrong though!, if so then I would be inclined to think it isn't fake since the the production of Tissot fakes was only recent wasn't it?, as a result only newer editions would be faked.

I never had one, so I don't know really, but this is tissot not a grand seiko.
No solid bolts? What is that? Is PRC200 supposed to use screws? Because those are just normal split pins that tissot uses on number of other watches.
Rough edges on the clasp? Normal on other original tissots, so why not on PRC200.
Painted center pins of chrono hands? Well, to m it looks better than bare metal, regardless of being bulletproof indication of being fake. If that's fake, maybe tissot can get some design cues.
12 has obvious defect, and that could be a reason it was sorted out by QC??
Can we have some pics of the caseback?
The only ridiculous thing is that you pay to get genuine merchendise and you do not really get what you paid for.
It is not possbile to get authentic prc200 chronograph for $130 or less if you buy bulk especially from china where luxury import taxes are higher.

Though prices do differ in different markets. Mercedes sell their cars about 30% cheaper in the US than in Germany, where they are made. Then the US-models are fully loaded for the price, while in Germany you even have to pay extra for the floor-mats AND the US price already includes any import duties !

We pay for floor mats here bro...in my experience the option levels and trim levels completely different amongst the eurozone vs US. They are definitely cheaper here but to say they are fully loaded is not accurate...but I suppose thats neither here nor there for this thread, but in addition to liking watches, I'm a car whore :D

Just my experience, when I go sightseeing @ cardealerships in the US. You wont find a "naked" Mercedes in the whole lot. If you wanna have fun: Next time you go there, tell them you're a German on vacation and would like to buy one to take back to Germany - watch for the reaction While they were still in bed with Chrysler, a New Hampshire dealer refused to sell a PT Cruiser to my sister even though she was living there for over a year and needed a car to drive ! I never heard of a jeweller refusing to sell watches to swiss people :D

PS. It's just the love of all beautiful things

Question Re: How to spot a fake Tissot

    Hi everybody!

I just bought a new Tissot PR50 automatic from a reputable online dealer, luxurywatchstore.com (this seller sells through Amazon.com as well).
Everything went smoothly with the ordering and the package arrived, everything seems to be top notch quality, wrapped in foil, a small sticker with serial number on the back case and so on.

But... I have two doubts about the authenticity of the watch.
    1. PR50, if I am not mistaken should be powered by ETA 2824-2. The problem I see is that the date starts to move down slowly at around 11:00 PM and then jumps around 12:00 AM. Isn't an authentic 2824-2 movement supposed to change the date precisely between 11:55 PM and 12:00 AM, in an instant?

    2. The serial number, unlike other serials that I've seen on the Internet, does not have dashes in it. Mine is 10BC0283664. Does this sound right to you?

Could you please tell me if any of these are signs of a fake watch? Should I return the watch?

    Thanks!

Re: How to spot a fake Tissot

Hello, I am new to this forum and I am glad I found it... it has been very interesting and informative !
I am looking at a Tissot PRC200 that a guy has for sale on Craig's List. He is asking $150 for it. It looks like the real McCoy, the only thing, the only thing I'm not sure of is the band, it is a Tissot leather band, but it dosn't have the metal clasp on it like all the others I have seen.
The watch is in almost new condition. The picture is the one he has posted in his ad.
Any input would be appreciated... does it look real ? is the price right ? anything you can offer.

    thanks
    Rick
