Re: How to spot a fake Tissot

Cressi - thanks. After comparing it to your pics, I still honestly can't tell real or fake - your pics actually make me lean more toward 'genuine'. So that tells me mine is either genuine or a good enough fake that I can't tell the difference; and so I'm just going with the assumption of genuineness. If I were going to sell it to someone, I'd be more concerned with it, but since I plan to keep it, I figure to just stay happy with it as is.

Lesson learned, though. AD's from now on.

    Thanks for the pics.

Hi. I don't know about the watch, but the seller is completely unreliable. 0 comment and photos. Someone who can take photos like that definitely wouldn't signed them in that way (it looks like using 'paint' software...). And on other auction he has photos with completely different signatures. In my opinion - it's not worth it.
    cheers,

I was initially confused because the seller has 0 comments, so i thought it was one of the moves that new sellers use so that they can get more comments and raise their ratings.

well, thats not exactly true though.. Seagulls and some other chinese brands are genuine and they work pretty well.

I did some research while waiting for reply in this forum and found that i can actually get a fake tissot lelocle for less than 90dollars shipped(EMS). So i guess I'd better get a tissot from a more reliable source if i want an authentic one. thanks guys!

Fake has "BI" incorrect lettering engraving. Poor polished.
My strap is not padded, but I bought it from an authorized/ginuine Tissot Jeweler and it says "BI" on the strap. Did i get ripped off by an authorized dealer? :(

I check several watches in AD store and all they have "BI" on the clasp. Personally I don't see any sense for faker to add something, which is not present in the original. Why - to make the fake more recognizable? I think it was "BI" on the original they intend to copy, that's why it is there in the fakes too.

    John in AR,
I'm no expert on watches, I do have the PRS200 (bought from an AD many, many years ago) just like yours except my chronos are silver. From the pic you posted and the one that Cressi posted and by holding my watch to them I can see no differences.

I believe you may have the genuine article.

    Omega SMP 2220.80.0
    Tissot PRS-200
    Tissot PR-50
