    Tissot Visodate and Le Locle

Hello everyone! I'm new here and thought I'd join as nearly anything I type into Google about watches leads me here.

Firstly, let me apologise if this topic has been covered before. I did do a quick search but couldn't find anything that would answer the questions I have.

Basically I'm looking to buy myself my first watch (have a couple that have been bought for me) and I'm looking at either the Visodate (black or silver) or a white Le Locle. I'm really just after some opinions on the two and if one is 'technically' better as I'm finding it hard to choose on looks alone.

I'm also really stuck as to where to buy it online:

    calibrewatches
    watchshop
    watchhut
    creativewatch

    ? ?

Thanks in advance for any advice/help!

Technically can't really say but appearance and on the wrist Visodate in silver with white face gets my vote every time. It's extremely versatile from suit to jeans and t but also has that old vintage / classical look about it with a modern mechanical movement. It runs about as well as any in my humble collection including those 10 times the price.

As for online I'd personally go to local AD and get them to price match, you can at least get a feel and a handle of the watch before buying - ensures no grey market and warranty legit.

    Just my tuppence worth.

I own the black dial Le Locle with bracelet and Silver dial Tissot Visodate.
Both are superb watches for the money, and to be honest both are equal in quality.
The Visodate however has the upper hand of being incredibly more versatile than the Le Locle. Can be worn casually or dressed up. So I would recommend going with the visodate.

Personally I prefer the classically styled Le Locle but will readily admit that the visodate is a more versatile option. The Le Locle will always look better with a suit though :) as for the quality and movement, they are roughly on par with each other.

I bought the black dial Visodate about an hour ago before I had a chance to read this. I went in to see it at my local AD and fell in love with it instantly! I also saw the silver dial version in there too and I think I'll have to get that at some point in the future as well.

I still really want a Le Locle but with the white dial with bracelet, I have to save up again first though.

    Thanks for your replies.

Edit: and the Visodate is the first watch I've ever bought myself!

Congratulations on your Visodate it's a incredibly fine timepiece. PS: Put it on a gator strap it looks great.
Also how much did you end up paying for the Visodate if you don't mind.

Thanks, I haven't been able to stop looking at it all weekend! I read about the poor quality of the OEM strap that comes with the Visodate and intend to buy a new strap which will work with the Tissot deployment clasp. Do you recommend any companies or websites to get one from?

I bought it from my local AD for £385 which seems about average from looking online before I bought it. They also had the silver dial version with either a silver case or gold case, the former being around £345 if I remember correctly, and the gold case was £410.

Edit: Yours looks beautiful with the new strap, I think I might have to get the silver dial in time! ;)

Haha thanks. It's a nice watch man. The watch it self looks like it's worth more than it is, so I figured it would be adequate to get a gator.

Uhmm the size of the Tissot visodate is 20mm by 18mm (marked on the underside of the strap) so you need to find a strap that fits that so you can reuse the tissot deployment clasp. Hadley Roma, Hirsch, and Di-modell are straps that come to find. I personally got my Di-modell genuine gator for $125 from Freda Watch Strap (Shipped saturday arrived monday your mileage may vary). Stunning strap for the money, definitely a step up from Hadley Roma's genuine alligator for even an even lower cost.

I would recommend getting a genuine gator for it, I am afraid alligator grain (imitation) calf leather straps seriously do not come close to genuine alligator and putting it on a plain leather strap kinda is kind of limiting for the watch.

Thanks, again. Will have to have to do some more research and see what I come up with. I'll definitely keep in mind your recommendation about a gator strap.

Today, I made a couple of orders that will replicate your great looking setup (thanks for putting those together so I could see it!) - but out of curiosity, were you able to use the Tissot deployment with your Di-modell gator?
