    Terry Allison Kickstarter (Scam?)

So doing a search on WUS brought up some older topics and it looks to me like this is potentially a(nother) scam from someone named Terry Allison. The watch itself looks just like the watches from Montrex and Independent Watch Co on Kickstarter that were previously talked about on here as just being cheap Chinese movements. Terry Allison is claiming that it's his own design for the movement though. Is this in fact another scam as I suspect?

$200 for a newly designed, American made tourbillon?

I think you know the answer.

If you read it all...It clearly states American Made hairspring.
None of the other parts are stated as American Made. LOL
The crooks and con artists just keep on coming!!
Very proud to state USA based suppliers.
Chinese could have a U.S. P.O. Box too.

I don't understand. Doesn't Kickstarter have protocols in place to protect "investors"?

Not really unfortunately. Their protection is basically that they say that project founders are required to complete their project and deliver or refund the backers, but they also state that Kickstarter is not responsible if that doesn't happen. They do have a review process but I doubt they do any research as to whether the claims a project creator makes so people can get away with a lot.

We’re a for-profit company based in New York City’s Lower East Side. We spend our time making Kickstarter a little bit better every day, answering questions from backers and creators, and finding new projects to share. If a project is successfully funded, we apply a 5% fee to the funds collected.

This is from their website....They don't care as long as they get their cut...IMHO

Sounds like the same Terry Allison from the old WatchNet forum who started selling the Montres Allison. Not exactly an object of quality. It does seem like the same person. He was, or apparently still is, in Denver, CO as well.

Do an internet search for Terry Allison or Terry Allison II and you'll get a clear picture of what's going on.
