Trias is Germansia Watch Company. When others see the brand Trias, they has a lot of mix feeling. Some say, they sell value for money watch. While other will claim they just sell cheap knock off homage with no durability.
After flipping thru e-bay, I came across this particular wallet friendly nice looking SS bracelet automatic watch. Hey wait, its a quartz! How can it be automatic? After reading thru it description. I understand is a Autoquartz. Something like Seiko Kinetic which needs the movement of yr wrist to move the rotor to generate current to run it. Great accuracy and long years need not change capacitor(Sounds like best of both world).
Sounds like a good deal including shipping was only $82. While other Seiko kinetic watch is not cheap. The red bezel is attractive and I never own a kinetic watch before. So now is the chance. I decided to take the plunge and gamble on it. The movement is Seiko YT58B kinetic which Seiko only make for other watch companies. Finally, it arrives ytd.
It came with a spectacle look alike box as it box together with a A4 size printed instruction and a cheap looking warranty card.
After de-box it and took it out. The first impression was quite impressive. No flaw detected. When u hold it. It was even more impressive. It weights solid, gives u a feeling like holding Rolex submariner.
But when u attempt to turn the bezel, it feels tight and not smooth enough. Unlike the Rolex sub bezel.
As more detail I looked into, I discovered the second hand is a bit off(Something not good) but as I checked out other function. No flaw was discovered. The screw in crown worked as advertised. Just liked Rolex screw in crown which gave u a peace of mind over water resistant question. Date and Date could be adjusted smoothly. One interesting thing was the date when jumped to next day will appeared in German first, after a few hours will turn to English. The detail on the face had no flaw discovered, looked good. Bezel marking looked nice too. Mineral glass had no flaw too.
Then I proceeded on to the lum check. Lum was good. Every dial ,second hand ,min hand and hour hand lighted up nicely when light off. Able to last certain amount of time. Comparable to Seiko and Citizen one.
Then I proceeded on to the backcase check. The backcase was a see thru one and was using a screw in case. So water resistant shall not be a problem. 5ATM resistant stated. Shall be enough for swimming.
The movement was a 6 jewel Seiko autoquartz. Not as beautiful as mechanical one. But was good to have a see thru back case as u can see the rotor moves according to the force applied. Autoquartz rotor will not move as fast as mechanical one and seems to need bigger force to rotate it.
Finally, the last thing to look on will be the SS bracelet. I had no complain of it. Only if they could made the link just like Rolex screw in link. Easier for owner to make bracelet readjustment will perfect this SS bracelet. The clasp was firm when secured and easier to unclasp it. Rest on my wrist nicely. Feels just liked Rolex sub. Very well make!
As for the accuracy of this watch. I think no need to elaborate. Quartz is very accurate compare to mechanical one. A full charge of this autoquartz can last 6 months if left idle. But full charge of this movement will take abt 7 days compared to automatic mechanical watch which took less than a day.
Overall, will give it a 7.5 out of 10.
They need to pay more attention to detail like second alignment and bezel tuning.
Other than that and thru this watch, u can tell Trias is serious abt trying to provide quality watch to consumers. Material used is good.
I will be glad to recommend this watch to anyone who is interested in buying it. Fo $82 with shipping. I will say its value for money. Despite they claim to have a 24months warranty. I will not take the hassle to ship back and email them if the watch gone wrong. But from my impression, I don't forsee it will fail me anytime. And I expect many years of service of it.
