The difference between the Anantas and Grand Seikos has been widley discussed on the Citizen/Seiko forum. Supposedly the 9R86 in the Grand Seiko is more finely finished and Seiko uses only the best quartz crystals. On the other hand, the 5R86 in the Ananta is beautifully finished, the Ananta is 2/3 the price of the GS, it is lumed (the GS isn't), and it's gorgeous. In terms of performance, the watch has been about +1 sec/week, which is way better than spec, even for a Grand Seiko. And, for me, what is important, is that the GMT function works properly, that is, with an adjustable 12-hour hand.

I'm a terrible photographer, but there are great pictures of the same watch from another WUSer, here. (Mine is 255/300) Amazing watch.

A classic, with all whatch u seek comes from Glycine: the Airman 08 Chrono - albeit it doesn't have the Day function.

This new Ball comes close...It has everything on your list including the chrono and day/date, but is a worldtimer rather than a 12/GMT.

Only problem is finding one. TimeFactors doesn't make them anymore and, although I haven't looked lately, I remember they were pretty rare on used market.

    - chrono
    - 24hr gmt (rotating 24hr bezel and a quickset 12hr hand would be nice)
    - day/date

i'm on a two week, coast to coast tour and for this kind of thing i generally revert to the trusty ole navihawk (on a silver/black bond nato) that i bought a lifetime ago as a cadet glider pilot. the main thing i appreciate about it now (over my sinn, rolex, etc) is that i can see local/gmt/home time zones at a glance and it would be nice to have that functionality in an auto.
I'm inordinately fond of my Wingman:

Not an auto but does everything you want and more. The NaviHawk is fine but the Wingman has bigger LCD's, a backlight button and a VERY loud alarm.

    Hi OP,

think this watch has every u need and more. Auto (Eta 7751)Chrono, GMT, Day/Date/Month and Moonphase. How about that? And guess what? It's a Bulova. Not exactly in the same sporty genre as the waches posted above but nonetheless a function packed watch at a good price.

a nice watch indeed. looks like it sports the same functions as the longines master moonphase (which, imho is also very nice watch but seems a bit too precious to wear at work and not be worried about)
