As I mentioned here previously, I managed to find these two Afrikaaners last year by taking the direct approach and finally picked them up last week in DC - it's been a long wait! Lovely watches and very happy to have them in the group, many thanks to the seller for his patience, trust and cooperation. Both have very good provenance. I'll post photos of the backs when I get a moment.
I think the Corvus "RB" NATO looks great on these watches ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (the rehaute on the 5012 needs to be rotated clockwise a hair) They join their northern brothers in arms, the SwAF Lemania and the beauty of the bunch IMO (must be the acrylic bezel insert )![]() the SwAF Tg195 ![]() and the RN Lemania HS9

Lemania had some watchmaking talent, no doubt.

What a fantastic group - I agree about the beauty of the bunch. Pure functional readability, much like the Heuer Bund - I've used this for flying in light aircraft and I have to say, it's got to be one of the best 'pure' pilot's watches ever made. Looks like it wasn't alone!

If I am not being indiscreet, what is the 'direct' approach? With such wonderfull results others may care to take it as well. |

Those are beyond sweet!!!!
You have a real eye for the good stuff, which really shocks me considering your Army roots. LOL!

Hi -
Serious drool. Quite an acquisition and two rather serious watches. The Lemania with the single subdial is something I could wear... JohnF

I've been fortunate in that many of my best finds actually found me (via fellow collectors, owners, etc.), but there are a couple of pieces that repeatedly elude me and the SAAF Lemanias are an example. Quote:

Very nice Colin, the 5012 is a beauty, constant hackable seconds dial is consistent with Mil/AF needs and is very well executed. My EZM1 will be jealous...

Both of those bicompax Lemanias are stunners, but I think I like the one you just got, as I prefer numbers to not be cut off. But all of three have that austere and eminently readable dial and clean look; they are what they are, and nothing else.
Looking forward to looking on your blog for more pics.
