Hi, has anyone else experienced a problem screwing in the crown on the pilot?
It seems like it just won't catch the threads anymore.
Only started today, it's been fine up til now.
Any help greatly appreciated

I have the small size, and it has thus far been completely fine.
Cheers,
Still can't get the crown to catch the threads and screw down:(
Anyone had any experience of this on the Pilot or any other watch for that matter?
Is it fixable? Don't mind paying to repair it, but down want to junk the whole watch and have to replace it because of this:(
Thanks for any help in advance guys
Chris
It' s common practice to turn the crown counterclockwise about 1/4- 1/2 turn while maintaining just enough pressure against the tube. And then turn normally in clockwise direction to catch the first thread while still maintaining same pressure. This may solve the problem if you' ve haven' t already tried. Otherwise contact your source of the watch to find a solution. My 46MM model threads super smooth.
Right, well i've removed the stem and movement, to eliminate having to use any pressure and to get a better look at the threads.
I can push the crown all the way over the threads, so i'm sure they are pretty well buggered
Now, i'm not heavy handed or clumsy, and own several dozen watches with screw in crowns so i know what i'm doing.
I seems the thread has at least partially stripped.
As i'm not the original owner of this watch i'm not sure if it's worth contacting CountyComm ??
I'm also guessing there is little a watch repairer can do with this ??
Please correct me if i'm wrong.
Thanks all
Chris
If its still under a year old (probable) get the invoice number from the original owner and contact countycomm. Im not sure if their warranties can transfer owners but its worth a try.

Hi thanks, i'll PM the original owner now see if they still have the info
Not sure, if the warranty is transferable, that i haven't voided it by taking the watch apart.
Worth a shot though.

it's interesting that you brought this up (my Maratac Pilot is on it's way!!) because IIRC in the maratec youtube video on their site i think the person in the video speaks about counter threading so as to not strip the threads - not saying you did that - but they do mention it because it probably can become a problem based on the design. just my 2 cents.
Sounds like the previous owner was not as gentle as you - sorry to hear that.
If pursuit of a warranty claim with CountyComm proves fruitless, you may want to bring it to a local watchmaker to see what they can do. If the threads inside the crown are still OK, then they may be able to replace the stem tube. Just a thought.
Good luck.

Hi, i never got an answer back from the guy i bought it off so have no info to pursue a claim under warranty.
I does appear that the crown threads are ok, so if its possible to replace the stem tube this may be the way to go.
Checked out the video on CountyComm's site ,but it only mentions being careful not to cross thread, which isn't whats happened, it's more like the ridges on the threads have stripped, so the crown just goes right over the threads on the case.
SO next step is contact a decent watch repairer and see what they can do.
Thanks all
Chris
