    Military watch markings

I have a watch with an American Waltham movement with the British broad arrow and the following letters and numbers on the case. 6B/234 A2951 AF4140. I would appreciate if anyone could tell me what they represent, year of manufacture, Army or RAF etc.Name: mil watches 001.jpg

    Hi,

6B/234 Waltham (and other makers) watches were used during and after WW2 by the RAF, A2951 is the issue/serial number, the AF4140 marking looks like it was used by the SAAF (probably after WW2).

I have a Bulova 6B/234 (ex-USAAF A-11) watch, yours is the first 6B/234 I've seen with with the SAAF markings.
(6B/..... indicates equipment to be taken onboard an aircraft by aircrew).

    cheers,

    -John

    Hi John

Thanks very much for that info. Makes sense as the watch was bought in SA.

    Cheers

Don't know much about the watch but does anyone know where it is possible to get copies of the US straps pictured (or something similar?) I have a few 1950/60s watches that would look good on them.
