Does anyone else think it would be a good idea to split up the selling section a little bit? I would honestly love for it to have separate sections for lower priced items, mid priced items and high priced items. Instead of being subjective, I would want it to be a little more clear and have price ranges. I would browse the selling section a lot more if I didn't have to pass through 80-90% items I can't afford. Anyone agree? Any ideas how to make this happen?
Update of thread suggestions.
-I suggested putting f71 in the title of your thread, also later suggested by someone.
-f71 sticky
-affordable sales forum and not so affordable sales forum
-ways to filter price and location
-Just use watch recon
I came up with a similar thread in the past and I'm glad you posted this. I would love to see it happen! It's better than scrolling through tons of expensive watches and F71 guys seem to flip watches more often. I think it would be extremely popular.

That is a very good idea. If for instance I were to try and sell some of my collection, I would not use the f29. My Goers and Winners would be very self conscious among all the Rolexes and Omegas, not to mention the Pateks. Mine aren't accustomed to playing with that kind of fellows.
It does sound like a great idea, but very hard to implement! I think part of the thrill in not having a sorting by price option is discovering a gem at an affordable price on the sales forum! Very rare, but it does happen.
I'll take the opposing view. I've always looked at the sales forum as sort of a flea market. Big tickets mixed with small tickets, little gems buried in the fluff. I like that it is a stroll, not a snipe. I see new watches I never heard of, I stretch my buying boundaries (in both directions) and for me the sales forum is better than any WURW thread, because I see so much.
It makes no sense to divide the buying audience among forums or subsections of a sales forum.
Plus it would be a disaster for the mods to moderate. It's hard enough for users to figure out that they shouldn't post straps and bracelets in f29 or to post WTB there. Most people never read the rules, so splitting up the sales just makes more work for people and would probably diminish the returns.
I don't wanna be defined by my lack of funds. I wanna use credit to buy expensive luxury items to look like I'm in hip-hop. Stop trying to ruin my dreams!!!! Wait, what?
That's what I did when I found my Speedbird 1903 on watchrecon. I explained to the seller that I was an active member here and the sale went off without a hitch.
Maybe everyone just needs to put f71 in the thread title so we can just do an advanced search for f71 in the sales forum and find all of the actually affordable watches that way.
Yes! I was just thinking this the other day. I have some less expensive non-WIS watches I'd like to sell but I feel that they'd get quickly buried in f29 and the people who'd be most interested in them would never see them. I was thinking that having just f29 and then an affordable sales forum would work well.
I did not know watchrecon could sort by price, I'll have to check that out.
I'll add my .000001% of the average asking price in f29.
I agree with some of the posts that say it's nice to look at things I wouldn't necessarily look at if we had a <$500 forum, so how about two forums. One for $1000 and up and the other for $999 and down?
p.s. - Thanks to docvail for the watchrecon tip. I think I'll check them out.
I'd like to see a separate European sales section. Nothing more annoying than checking out scores and scores of listings and finding them all Conus only.

This! I also don't understand why most EU sellers don't put EU in thread title. I often search by that. Or at least that watchrecon allows to filter by currency.
Since you are all wrong on this I will will give you an out ....I have often thought there should be a G-shock sales forum. Let's face it, you can boil watch shopping down to you are either shopping for a G-shock or for something else. And those guys are crazy!!! Minty Life of Pi/Marylin Manson Collab with the mirror dial error that has the upside down G etching ??????
Watchrecon does a very good job of giving access to everything you really need. Plus as Josh mentioned it is a multi/cross forum platform ... I have joined other forums too because of it; and learned stuff I might not have.
I don't think you'd need a separate forum. The current sales one would be fine if there were a couple of indicator icons. Like price, high/med/low (define those later), an icon indicating geographic availability would be great as well. I especially like sellers who include this in the topic title....having a couple columns to filter would be even easier.

I like the idea is the f71 sticky thread. I'm part of a BMW forum and there is thread on there for everyone to post their interior trim for sale. It's kind of like, if you're looking for a specific finish trim, it'll definitely be there.
i think the allure of the f71 is that a lot of people here like to pick up a new watch on a whim. It may make sales go faster, clean up the for sale section a bit, and provide a concentrated market place for watches only from, say $1-250....
after reading the first page of this thread and never bought or sold a watch on this site or any used watch on any site, this is what I think: ever heard of the word "database"? well if the forum owner designs a short form that each seller would have to fill out then filtering would be a possibility. In that case one sales forum with filtering options. But, not my site, not my money, not my decision. Just sayin.
If you're looking for a specific watch, set up a Google alert for it.
