Which would be better for daily wear?(if the watch was to be worn only when going somewhere)

Yeah, but stainless steel isn't THAT much harder than aluminium(atleast the type used in watches),and Aluminium is a whole lot lighter.........that's the point of this post.
Back in the 60's a few watches tried the aluminum case route. Problem was back then the cases corroded. Timex only did it for about 4 years. I am not sure what alloys the newer aluminum cases use but there some out there that are very corrosion resistant. (Alloys that is...I work in an aluminum plant BTW). My problem is that I like the feel of a heavy watch...I have tried several Titanium cases and sold them all. I think Aluminum would be the same.

Sorry that I deleted my post before your reply came up LOL
If it's anodized it should/could hold up to the corrosion issue I suppose, but I agree with 66, I prefer heavier watches , I've had titanium too and they have felt lightweight.
Pound for pound I still think steel would be more hardwearing![]()

Again, that's what this post is about.I agree that heavy watches feel expensive and good to wear, but I was wearing my Swatch irony for a while, and then when I went back to wearing my bullhead,it just felt awkward, and my hand started feeling uncomfortable. So,for a guy who doesn't wear his watch that often, won't the additional weight of a stainless steel case make him feel uncomfortable?
Depends on the person. I can go from wearing a little 37mm quartz watch on a super thin NATO strap, to wearing a 43mm automatic diver style watch with steel bracelet, which is substantially heavier, and it doesn't feel uncomfortable to me at all. We're talking in grams here, not lbs.
My kids wear aluminum watches.
I like light watches also, especially for sporting activities. Although my watches are SS, I have them on rubber straps now.
I don't care for aluminum - to soft and the anodizing scratches easily. I haven't owned an aluminum watch but I see these problems in other gear I use. I like lightweight watches, but I would take titanium over aluminum any day, or just a good smaller SS.
Too many watches, not enough wrists.
It appears to me that you answered your own question right before you asked it.
The correct answer is in your heart because everyone has a different preference. I like heavy watches and the weight doesn't bother me. At the same time I have a Casio with a titanium bracelet that I enjoy wearing.
When I put on a heavy watch afterwards, I do notice the weight, but within 30 seconds--if that--I'll forget about it. Other people may be different. It's all individual.
