    cheap PO homage besides Alpha?

    Hey everyone!

Well Grunchy's thread about the Militares that were just slightly more expensive than Alpha's homage got me thinking...I absolutely LOVE the look of Alpha's PO homage, but reading so many negative comments about their QC issues has held me back from pulling the trigger so far. I was just wondering if anybody knew of any other cheap alternatives? One of my favorite things about the Alpha are the hands, so the Invicta that people often suggest isn't one that I would like.

    Any suggestions?

The only QC issues on an Alpha PO I'm familiar with is that there was a batch with fingerprints on the inside of the glass (which meant opening the watch and cleaning it manually, not a really big deal but a nuisance) and a stutter on the seconds hand due to the movement used. While I'm not wearing my Alpha PO much (just not my style, good thing I found out before I bought a real PO ) I don't have any complaints.

There was a thread about another PO clone on the Chinese forum recently:
    Olipai PO Homage

    The Olipai:

I'd take Alpha over Olipai any day.

I have not noticed an overwhelming amount of post about poor QC and Alpha. The Alpha Radomir that I have is excellent when it comes to quality and the bracelet on my Alpha Sub is amazing and equals many more expensive bracelets out there. Including the Invicta Bracelets, Citizen Bracelets and the Seiko bracelets.

I say pull the trigger on the Alpha. You will not find a better watch in the price range and you will be happy that you made the purchase.

I own both the alpha PO and the Olipai PO, Both watches are pretty good. I havent had any problem with the alpha PO, but when i received the Olipai PO the bezel popped off in my hand. IJust snapped it back on so far it hasent caused any problems. I must admit the olipai is keeping great time. Here is a link to another watch brand that is a PO homage. http://www.dctwatch.com/en-us/produc...0178%20series/

I thought Orient did...but I can't seem to find it.

I think that the Orient CER1A001B (black dial) and CER1A002D (blue dial) are pretty close in looks to the Planet Ocean and are likely the ones referred to above. You'll have to do a web search for pictures, but it shouldn't be tough to find them.

I have one of each and they're terrific watches--especially for around $100 from the popular auction site.

I created the thread that Guysie put the link in for. I received the Olipai and it looked great, but it wouldn't stay running. I sent it back to nicewatch00 and he has another one on the way. I will let you know how it runs. I have the Alpha PO Homage, but it has a severe stuttering second hand that I can't stand looking at, so I that's why I ordered this one.

I always wondered what you guys were talking about, "PO".
    Omega Planet Ocean!

Had anybody bought that DCT (Herc) 178 copy Allen had mentioned? $60, wow.

kenC here's that thread with that Orient picture you had mentioned:

Hmm....I think for right now, I want a less-cluttered face than the Herc or Olipai. I guess I'll just order the Alpha and keep my fingers crossed (for 3-4 weeks =P )! I might have to spring for those other two in the future if I hear good things about them though...

By the way, is it just me, or are the Herc and Olipai a bit TOO similar? Is it possible that they're the same watch just re-branded?
