Re: G. Gerlach - Made in Poland

The P52 has surfaced off the northwest coast of Ireland

    First impressions:
    - lovely box and well packaged
    - hefty watch, very good finish, looks and feels like quality
    - good looking, good quality, comfortable strap
    - nice dial with sharp print and nicely chromed indices
    - hands also very well made
    - the swivel lugs make for a comfortable fit and they look really good
    - crown action is solid and sharply defined, screw thread works as it should
    - caseback etching is nicely done. I've received number 030/300 ...nice

    - the movement (my first experience with a Seagull)
rotor is noisy, noisier than my Vostoks but no noisier than my Orient
winding is smooth but the sound is unusual, more like a twittering than the usual ratchet click sound
    it hacks ...which is great

    - my only criticism is the bezel
it looks good, fit and finish is perfect and it's easy to move
but it is a bit loose between clicks (about 1.5 mm of play) which in my case leads to a slight mis-alignment of about half a minute as the spring pushes it to the far end of the play
That isn't tragic however as the bezel is optically misaligned anyway (due to the height difference between dial and bezel) if you look at it from any other angle than straight above

    -bottom line
I'm a very happy customer, love the watch, feel that I got outstanding value for money and would definitely buy again.

It is very good to have this great feedback, actually second after the one Markus did - but hey, he lives just 400 km away
We did our best to let you love it. And are happy that you did.
And totally agree with the bezel - as a lot of divers that we followed had no clicks at all, we considered it as a secondary issue, as it origins from the divers of the '60s. But for more modern projects, we decided to include rotating bezels with120 clicks, just to avoid, or decrease the misalignment factor.

My watch is in the States, but is stuck someplace in USPS online status update limbo.

I thought checking multiple times per day was supposed to speed up the process.

BTW ...I'm utterly fascinated by the (main) lugs on this watch. Going from the circular body of the watch to the straight edge of the swivel in a surface that's also radiused ...that must have been a bit of a challenge for the guy who machined and surface finished that bit, quite a complex bit of geometry

Actually, more complex part f the job was to pick a brushing lines to fit the overal shape, and to make this that you have mentioned more visible. We made some prototypes, but have not been satisfied - so we have de facto changed whole case concept. It push lunching date a lot, as we had to manufacture new cases, and check them "in real". Dzik & Sokol were set to be ready in Summer 2011... But it was worth to wait - this is my opinion that you will share I hope.

    Absolutely!

A great result, this is where the attention to detail really shows.

I have no light here any more (yes, I have paid my bills, but it is 10PM here now ! ), but tomorrow I will shot and show you, side by side, case that was rejected. Anyway, you can check for it on our FB profile - there is a Sokol prototype shown.

    Yes, we are practically neighbors.

I've had many positive comments on my P-52, so I think you're doing something right.

For those left wondering if I've lost my geometry altogether and what the heck I'm on about ...this is the complex bit in question, illustrated by reflected light:
