Lidl €7.99 'Stainless Steel' beach watch.

So, got one of those Lidl leaflets through the door the other day which advertised an all stainless steel watch for €7.99, out today. Went in at lunchtime and picked one up. It's a horrible looking thing, more like a toy, but after taking my screwdriver to it, it does seem to be a stainless steel case. It also tells the time. Have so far been unable to get the back off. Anyway, here it is on my old Pulsar nylon strap...

I got it for 9.99€ just like you to see what it was really. The funniest thing is that I got good comments from some of the people I work with!
As regards the name 'Auriol' I've never seen it anywhere else before. Do Lidl have their own 'brand'??

Yeah, I think 'Auriol' is just the name Lidl went with, but reminds me of Didier/Hubert Auriol who I used to watch in rallying, Paris Dakar etc.

Yep, the dial markers are frankly offensive looking! It's annoying as the case isn't really that bad...When I get it open I'll do some work on it.

Got quite a shock last night. This watch has lume on the hands and bezel! Ok, it only lasted 30 mins or so - but it's far better than my Pulsar PJN305!

Nice, I thought I was the only one knowing the Auriol :D

I bought this one, I think 3 months ago. The watch is nice, a bit too small for my liking at 40mm, it wears small. The strap is horrible, very plastic and it makes all sorts of squeeking noises when you move your wrist. But it kept good time and the lume was quite good for 9 € watch. It lasted for few 10 minutes, but it was good anyways.

But that's all history now, when I screwed it up while trying to learn how to remove the stem. It came out, but no way I could put it back in again :)

Just bought an Auriol for 10EUR (13$) from local Lidl.

I am assuming Lidl is a European store of some kind? I remember reading about a decent ABC watch they had awhile back, was quite accurate IIRC.

Yep LIDL is bargain basement stuff - think WAL*MART but a lot, lot smaller. They sell some things - like watches - only periodically.

@Cheap - yours looks pretty good!! Better than mine anyway! Took mine to Monte Carlo - was great looking at all those Panerais, Rolexes etc. with that thing on my wrist!
