    Manual wind with power indicator

I was wearing my vintage Waltham manual wind, but I forgot to wind it. No big deal, I winded it up and it is ticking away.

    Questions:
Is there a modern manual wind with power indicator? I found one searching google, but the price is too much for me. Anyone have any suggestion sub 1000? or 500?

The Nomos Tangente is the only one I found.

I wonder why the power indicator is more common on an automatic than a manual wind?

Re: Manual wind with power indicator

I think some people are too lazy to own a handwind watch. For these people, the automatic watch must remind them to move their hand.

Most automatics don't have a power indicator, so its obviously just a "nice to have" complication on any watch. If the watch is stopped, either wind it or shake it. Interesting question.

On an automatic, you can figure out when you last took your watch off.
On a handwind, you'd know when you last wound your watch.

(sometimes my wife thinks that I don't have enough to do)

Re: Manual wind with power indicator

The Orient 60th Anniversary watch was exactly like that - manual wind with a power indicator. It almost seems like an automatic watch with the winding mechanism removed though - on my other handwiders you feel when you fully wind it you can't wind the crown any further. With this one, you can go past full, but you hear a click like an overwind clutch is engaging. Anyhow, price was well in the range you talked about, around $300 or so new. It was a limited edition, not so sure you can find 'em new anymore.

    Here's a pic of mine:
