New Titan Automatic 9365YCA from India

I bought this watch last week. It's an open-heart automatic with sapphire crystal, exhibition caseback, and day/night indicator. Does anybody know what movement it is? The instruction leaflet says Miyota 8247, but I recall seeing some Seagulls with a similar movement and I also remember reading that Titan used Seagull movements in their automatics.

The watch came in a nice, big box.

This was released in Singapore couple of weeks ago... I had a good impression on the one with bracelet. But was turn off by the price here which comes close to USD300(SGD400). The packaging box is not as good as yours as well.
At this price, even it is assembled in india, with chinese movement, i would rather go for INGERSOLL watches with better design.

Nice watch. Interesting to note Titan's claim that this is a Cal 8247 from Miyota. Here is the Miyota manual for this movement:
    www.citizen.co.jp/miyota_mvt/download/pdf/spec_8245_8247.pdf

The 8247 is not a skeleton, does not have the D/N indicator and has the small seconds at the 3'oclock. maybe this is a modified 8247?

ETA: It looks like the small seconds and the 24 hour indicator positions are reversed on this movement wrt the crown.

    The Titan product page:

Nope, that one's definitely Chinese. No problem with that of course, but it's absolutely not a Miyota.

300 USD, EGAD! I have two skeletons off of deal extreme.Total cost was about 30 bucks and the models appear to be available yet. They have central second hand all ss with a handwind jeweled movement and a folded steel bracelet.crystal is glass. You have a very nice looking watch there though and I like the offset second hand. Also sapphire is nice for the crystal.Mine keep good time and it is really easy to veiw the movement, however i do not wear them much as i have many horological wristpeices.

Yep... that's the discounted price here in Singapore, along with other slew of automatics using chinese movements such as those from seagulls as well as shanghais, but assembled in india.
Majority of these movements seen in the TITAN watches could look familiar to those that you can find in asian night bazaars, but the TITAN watches are much more better polished and decorated.
That's why i brought INGERSOLL products onto the table to compare with the TITAN makes.

Chinese movement, not a Miyota... although I am not sure exactly which one. I AM however certain I have seen this movement in ~$25 Chinese watches across the www... I can't recall specifically but I think it was a Cjiaba, Daybird, IK colouring...etc.

The movements used by TITAN can be found in splitting images on those cheap, ebay makes such as the names you had mentioned. Except that the movements used seems to be more refined and better polished. For a better comparison, i would place it together with watches from SEAGULLs, INGERSOLLs, or ELYSEE... SEAGULLs will definitely win with built quality and branding warranty. TITAN might be on par with ELYSEE, INGERSOLL wins with better value.

Hmm, turns out that it could be a Chinese movement after all. I'm still confused about why the manual says Miyota 8247 though. Perhaps it may be a modded Miyota movement as hari317 suggested , but that seems unlikely.

Ed.Yang: Yep, $300 is way more than I'd want to spend on this watch. This one had an MSRP of $200 and I paid $120 after discount, so I'm rather pleased with my purchase. :D

The full skeleton models have an MSRP OF $350, but I didn't fancy them as they did have the typical, "Asian night bazaar" look you mentioned.

I meant no dis-respect to this watch or the Titan brand. I work with a lot of Engineers from India and a couple of them have Titan watches, they are nice looking and they appear to be very well made.
