Same here. Looks like G-Shocks on pretty much all the drivers and platform attendants here. Atomic ones no doubt...

    How about one of these:

    I am wearing it now

My son has a Citizen quartz RR Approved that he grabbed out of my watchbox after I got my Accutron. He's a real train buff so I also got him Mondaine to match mine.

    Cheers,

These are Union Pacific Railroad rules on watches.

While on duty, all employees who do not work in an office with a standard clock must have a
    watch. The watch must:

Be in good working condition and reliable.

    Display hours, minutes and seconds.

    3.3: Time Comparison
Every day before beginning work, all employees must do one of the following:

Compare their watch with a standard clock.

Ask the train dispatcher for the correct time.

Compare their watch with an employee who has the correct time
    OR

Compare their watch with the time service designated in the special instructions.
Employees must make sure their watch does not vary from the correct time by more than 30 seconds.

We also have a rule that says we cannot wear metal watches. Alot of guys use their cellphones.

Now I'm curious, what's the no metal watch rule for?

I'll have to ask my dad if they have the same rule. He works for BNSF.

I guess they figure there's a possibility of injury if they snag on a piece of equipment.

We cannot wear any metal jewelry including watches. A few week backs a guy was getting off a machine and snagged his ring and tore the meat off his ring finger. I figure they might lump the metal watches in with all metal jewelry.

Okay, seems like a very logical rule now. But wouldn't a plastic watch snag just as hard as a metal one? I've held bracelets that would tear apart easier than the rubber on a G-shock.

It is not the only rule we have that doesn't make sinse. You should see our rule book.
