Just ordered one on Amazon today as my "graduation present" from my wife. I'm excited to get it Friday and size it up, but she won't let me wear it until I actually graduate in May.

My OM has done nothing but grow on my since I put it on yesterday. I wasn't sure I could deal with the look and the size even after I hit the buy button. But it has seriously made an impression.

Also, don't let the "bezel is hard to turn" people get to you. The guard only covers half of it and even where it does the bezel sticks half of its thickness above the guard.
Shut your mouth and wear your Alpinist.
Note that "Your Alpinist" is metaphorical and in truth refers to your most versatile watch.

Nonsense. Tell her you have to get used to wearing a new watch. That's what I told mine before our wedding last November (only related because I then wore the same watch to graduation in December).

If I was going to be turned, it would have happened a long time ago.

Not sure what "falling apart" means, but there are little tiny collars that fit on the ends of the link pins. If the collar is not in place, the pin will fall out. You should be able to order some from Seiko.

I love the looks of both the OM and BM, but I cannot stand the lime color of the lume. It doesn't go well with the orange dial on the OM, and it doesn't match the hands of either the OM or BM. It drives me crazy, because I love everything else about them.

I toy with the idea of buying one and having it re-lumed to a white compound like what they use on the Baby Monsters. Or maybe just get a new dial altogether. But then I stand back and realize that I'd be buying a watch to be modded right out of the box before I even wear it. Which is fine for some people. But I don't like that idea.

What about buying an already modded one? :D

Hehe, yeah, that's something I'd consider. But between finding one modded in a way I'd like, and then trusting the online seller, I'll have to get lucky. Not counting on it.

When you buy the Orange, you will want the Black and then a couple of Watchadoos. At least that is what happened to me.

In my view it's the very best value diver out there.
I'm going to agree with you on this being a great dive watch for the dollar and if someone is trying to sell you a Rolex for $200 it's gonna most likely be a fake!
