I recently purchased a homage-style watch from Reedsco.
I'd seen Reed's handiwork in another review on WUS, so decided to check out his website.
It turned out that he could do custom textured dials, in addition to really potent lume replacement.
The first thing which impressed me was the speed and ease of communication. Reeds emailed back with blinding speed and was happy to answer my (rather long) list of questions. He was also very patient as we worked out details like lume colour and which dial I was after.
In the end I settled on aqua lume and a rust coloured dial. I explained how the dial reminded me of Garden Island, which is a ships graveyard on the coast near my city. The colour looks like the hull of a rusting ship, lying in the water just off the coast.
Reeds very obligingly decided to name the watch "Hull" and put it up on his website.
The features:
Custom textured dial
ST36 Seagull 17 Jewel movement (21600 bph)
Aqua-blue lume
Glass caseback
Glossy wooden display box
1 year warranty
Over all I am very happy with the watch! The lume is REALLY bright. If I charge it up with a lamp, the Hull shines brighter than my Steinhart Nav-B.
The movement is a cut above the stock Unitas, as it sports a higher beat per hour.
The band which arrived with the watch was wearable, but I prefer the colour of the Blue Radish strap in the pictures.
