    SEIKO 5 bracelet adjustment question

A SEIKO 5 I recently bought arrived from Hong Kong today. A nice looking watch (will post a photo or 2 sometime soon). Would look even nicer if I could figure out how to adjust the bracelet on it... Below is a photo. It seems that removable links have some sort of a notch with what looks like a ball inside of each notch. Towards the top of the photo and a bit to the right of each of the arrows on the element not directly above each arrow but the one above it. I THINK those notches and balls are a key to adjusting the bracelet - but for the life of me - I can't figure out how to do it. I don't want to be forceful with it because (as is common knowledge I gather) SEIKO 5 has, shall we say, not the best of bracelets. I hope I'm making sense in this description. The 'balls' I'm talking about are somewhat hidden in the photo - they are the round looking things on top most elements (inside notches) and about half of each of these balls can be seen on the photo.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Michael

Re: SEIKO 5 bracelet adjustment question

I'd like to add a few additional comments to this post. I found the description above really useful but it still took a bit of time to get the knack of it. The watch I was working on was a Seiko 5 Ladies. It has a spherical elevation, but no recessed or cut out area as shown in the photo in the above link. I think the procedure will be the same for all types of strap like this.

First its important to open the bracelet flat and lay it on a table.

Then, make sure you have a really small screwdriver. It needs to fit into the hole next to the spherical elevation without catching.

Then put the screwdriver behind the spherical elevation and get ready to push the metal sheet out in the direction of the arrow. The secret is to push down hard and then wriggle the sheet forward. Just trying to push the sheet out doesn't work. You need to push down hard.

    Hope this info is useful.
