I notice that habits change the way I perceive what's on my wrist. With a rather average 7" wrist, my favorite zone is certainly around 40mm, but I have many 36mm watches that look just fine after my eyes adjust to the "old style" fit. Anything bigger than about 42mm looks like a platter to me at first, and tends to slide around or push the crown into the back of my hand; although a few at 44mm manage the size better than others (Bernhardt Officer for example.) It's not just one size, but a range and ... well... "it depends."
Too many watches, not enough wrists.
35-40mm is my preferred range. 38mm is probably the sweet spot, especially for watches with smaller bezels. For some sportier styles, like divers, I can go up to ~42mm.
As stated in the first thread, I span from my 35.5mm Stowa Antea KS to my 43mm Seiko Solar Chrono/Diver (SSC017). I'd say the sweet range is 36-39mm. I voted 37mm just because it is in between the two.
Shut your mouth and wear your Alpinist.
Note that "Your Alpinist" is metaphorical and in truth refers to your most versatile watch.

38-39 is nicest but there tends to be less selection so voted for 40mm...
My preferred range is 38-45mm but have watches up to 47mm. My preferred watch size is 40mm for my 6.75" wrist.

33 to 40 is usually what i prefer to wear. I'm a big fan of vintage watches which tend to be 33-35mm on average.
I can wear 38-42mm with no problems. Sweet spot@ 40mm
