I like peacock dials! My newest is from Shanghai.









The balance cock doesn’t match the rest of the movement, and it is possible that the balance assembly is a replacement. This is something I probably wouldn’t have noticed had it not been for the confusing movement in my automatic Double Rhomb. The date code is DG (July 1977).

Another new-to-me 7120:



I like the sunrise-coloured dial, even with the smudged print.







The date code on the SS7 movement is FE (May 1979). If the two marked pieces left the factory as parts of the same movement, my suspicions are confirmed that this was the time when Shanghai Watch Factory changed the designation from SS7 to ZSH, as I have a 7120 with a ZSH movement with the same date code. I don’t know if the movement is completely original, however, because the balance wheel is not the usual gold-coloured one seen in Shanghai tongjis.
