New Parnis Yacht watch with unidentified movement

Hello I have just got my self a watch from marinawatch on special for $70.

    sellers picName: 01.jpg

now what interested me in this watch is it seemed to contain an st21 or something similar Name: ww.jpg

Today the watch arrived it does indeed have a movement that looks a lot like an st21/eta 2824 however having taken a close look at it It is neither. It beats at 21600 bph and has a standard regulator arrangement as oppose to the eccentric screw seen on the st21 and eta 2824. There are no markings on the movement also it looks brand new and not refurbished in any way. I will try to post some more photos but photobucket is giving me grief hence the sellers pics. So does any one know what the movement is and what factory could have made it. worth $70 for the mystery movement alone but the watch is really rather nice as well as usual the strap is not very nice but the watch its self is solid and defect free. If I had a minor complaint the bezel has a lot of play in it between clicks but lines up spot on. so I have a watch with a mystery movement sapphire crystal and supposedly water resistant to 200 meters all for $70 quite pleased so far.

I have actually asked Manbusjie about this, since they have the 'same' watch here, but 150% (wholesale-price) more expensive. This one is supposed to be ST21 (same watch can also be found at Dajwatch, and Parnis watchsation, for about 200$). The one you have (for 70$) has a Shanghai-movement according to the mail I got, he didn't say which type or calibre though. I also asked about the sapphire glass and 20 atm, and he confirmed that both versions have this. Pretty good deal if you ask me!

On another matter, I also noticed that there now is Parnis-watches available with Swiss movements. For example here, or the Milgauss hommage here. Is this a new trend? Or has anyone seen this before?

Ah, that Shanghai movement again. What was the name of that American brand that offered a choice of this movement or ETA in the same watch? IIRC the watches were rather expensive.

    Regarding the Swiss movements:
    1. I'm surprised that they are specifying 2836-2 when neither of them is day/date. There's something odd there.
    2. I'm not sure I'd want to pay premium for a Parnis on the promise of a Swiss movement when they are already offering a choice of two Chinese clones of the same movement series in other models.

Oh its a shanghai thanks for the info based on that I shal see if I can dig out any more info. I wonder if the movement is an original design with a lot of ETA features. It looks for all the world to be based on an ETA calibre of some description just not a modern one.

I think its a little odd that company's state a 2836-2 in watches that do not have 2836-2 functionality I wonder if it is just used as a generic term to mean High beat movement.

That might very well be the case. Under the title Swiss movement watch one can find the ST21-watches as well.
