    That's probably just arthritis.

Southern California here. No, not the smog infested LA basin, but up in the mountains about two hours southeast of LA. Fresh air, lakes, pine trees...and still within striking distance of fake tans, fake breasts, and all else that is fun! We love it here! Plus, just in case we want to get away, we picked up a nice condo in Henderson, NV (just outside of Vegas) a few months ago for next to nothing!

If your at Big Bear, Arrowhead (east) or Henshaw (SE. I can't think of any others in the mountains and close to LA), isn't that more of a "get away" than Henderson?

Yep, it was much different then.

Nowadays, consider yourself lucky to get the type of "meal" I enjoyed on my last coast-to-coast flight. Oh yeah, the flight experience back then also didn't include getting patted down like a convicted felon or getting your naked body stared at on a giant screen. All in a pathetic effort to appease the masses and make them feel safe when they fly.

Honestly, if air travel was the utilitarian headache that it has always been, less folks would complain. It's similar to pulling in to a "Full Service" gas station. In the old days, an attendant in a clean white uniform would greet you. He'd politely ask you to release the hood. He'd then raise the hood, check the oil, check your other fluids. He'd clean your front windshield and your back window. He'd check your tire pressure. Finally, he'd fill up your gas tank. Nowadays, some guy who was homeless for years until that very morning (or at least looks that way) stumbles over to your car; and fills up the gas tank. That's what you get when you pull up to the so-called "Full Service" aisle. Just another ridiculous reduction of standards.

Easy living here. I can or could have moved anywhere. The weather and all So. Ca has to offer, if you do not drive the freeways, is great.
I also have no problems politically. My vote never counts, yet they still allow me to cast a ballot. I don’t have to pay the high property taxes as we have Prop 13.
All the bureaucrats are happy as they can work 3 days a week, 4 months off with pay and retire at 50 with $100k
State is BK, but when they finally blow up, all I have to do is move and all my debts are forgiven and no tax on that either.
Education is great if you have parents who care, teachers know and the stupid are placed in the same rooms to allow the good kids to be educated. Others go to jail school and graduate into some federal prison and trucked off. Just stay out of LA and you are fine

I used to live in Tustin, back when the three lane I-5 became a two lane divided highway, with cross traffic intersections at Newport Ave; and the 55 ended at Fourth St/Irvine Blvd, which was one lane across the Irvine Ranch, when it was still really a ranch.

In all fairness I don't think that the OP is comparing Peterborough to Baghdad...he just hates it. That said, let's compare Detroit to Baghdad, may be more interesting.

Sad thing is, I see all the potential and WISH Detroit was otherwise. I still dump thousands of dollars in donations hoping it will help...

I know what you mean, it's hard to fill up on babies.

Ladies and gentlemen, starring Sean779 and porschefan: Babies on a Plane. Voice-over and cameo by Samuel L. Jackson.
