It's no place to live...I know refugees from Afghanistan scared of Detroit...
That's the thing about Detroit. Detroit is Detroit 24/7. It never takes a break from itself.

One individual who moved from Detroit was actually surprised that other parts of America didn't function similar to Detroit. He was surprised that in other parts of America, no one holds a grudge against you to the point of stalking you for sometimes months at a time before taking advantage of the perfect opportunity to get their revenge. And I mean brutal and physical revenge. That's standard operating procedure in Detroit. Not even the most obnoxious New Yorker pulls that sort of thing. They just stand around shouting insults at each other while putting on a sometimes impressive display of macho posturing, before parting ways.

    Here's downtown

I've nothing against Phoenix, but those are some incongruent lumps of architecture.

I know Detroit's not a fun place, but you're demonizing it based on what one person told you?

    Hey fellas,

I started this as a good-natured, cathartic blow off. I stand by not liking Peterborough. But let's keep it civil if we can, eh? It's pretty clear most places have their issues. Of course, you don't have to listen to me! I just thought it would be fun to point out some of the foibles of the places we live in, or have lived. I hated Calgary when I first moved there, too. I think most places are liveable and have their good points. Except Peterborough. Except Peterborough. And maybe Detroit. And New York ain't lookin' too hot now, either.

To be onset I never dealt with a lot of the people who acted like that...but I stay away from most of the city. I only lived in it during residency (and until I was 13 but it was a little different then). I go there regularly for football and baseball games, and occasionally Detroit symphony orchestra, and it is indeed sketchy...
But I am weary of how I act there, for instance NO road rage, not worth getting shot.

My grandmother still lives there, I have offered to buy her a one room condo out and she won't leave...but there are some good people still there. It's just the amount of crap there is suffocating...

No, not at all. I don't jump to conclusions based on the experience of one person. I wish I was joking in my previous post. Sadly, I wasn't.

Did something bad happen to you in Peterborough that you'd like to talk to us about?

Man, there seems to be many of you that don't like where you live.
