Help Me Decide What Car I Should Drive

I have two cars that I love, one is a 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5S and the other one is a 1998 Lincoln Town Car Executive Series with 65K on it. In the Nissan the sound system is great, and the car can be tossed into a corner. Also the Nissan is newer than the Lincoln, but The Lincoln is in good condition. The Lincoln is huge, and rides like its on a cloud, and I mean you cannot feel any road imperfection due to the car having air springs. The trunk is enourmous, you could fit at least 5 and 1/2 dead bodies in there. The side compartments in the front driverside door can fit a .357 with ease. All the mirrors dim automatically when lights hit them, and the outside mirrors are heated. The seats are so plush and soft that it feels like your sitting in a recliner at home watching TV. The Nissan has bucket seats that keeps you in your seat during hard cornering, also the interior design is pleasing.

I dont know which car I should drive, please help.

    Gonna jump this...

B-)It seems there are situations where each of your cars has advantages, so lets put the car's descriptions together:

That's the car when you're on the run, yes? That sounds system definitely helps not to get bothered by these police sirens.

Apparently to be preferred for the large, but relaxed job with a huge toll, also when the heavy tools need to be at hand.

I suggest to toss both of them and get a Mercedes 600 instead. Good compromise, this. Also huge, but like a sports car on the road. Body count in the trunk is lower though. Comes in an armored version as well, might help on the job. Check out the sales corners of middle eastern car & driver boards.

To be perfectly honest, I don't like either car that much, but I'd tend towards the Town Car. A 4 cylinder in a car in the Altima's class is rather weak for my tastes; I much prefer a small V6. If your main concern is with the sound system, you could install a most excellent aftermarket sound system in the Town Car that would make the Altima's one sound anemic.

Re: Help Me Decide What Car I Should Drive

Actually I own two Town Cars. My wife, of course gets the newest 2005 model and I'm left with the 1995 model. Don't tell her, but the older sound system is much better, but the newer drives better. Both have the same engine. Mine has a Thule roof rack that carries mountain bikes and kayaks. Looks kind of odd, I know, but its paid for. Everytime I dream about a new car, I remember what the payment will be.
Someday, maybe a Volvo V70 wagon will be mine. They are low to the ground and easy to load the roof rack.
I vote for the Town Car. Just don't worry about what other peolpe think.

Regarding a 4 cylinder I beleive it depends on the car. My company car is a 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5 4 cylinder and is my first import car as a company car. Previous company cars were always GM or Ford. When I first drove the Altima I did not even know that it was a 4 cylinder - to me it has great pick up and a very smooth ride.

I just returned from a family vacation at Disneyland where we rented a car for getting around. The car Budget gave us was a 2006 Impala. I thought that car was very sluggish for a six cylinder and the brakes were terrible. It also sucked the gas back pretty quick compared to the Altima.

If it were me I would stick with the Altima for better reliability and way better resale value.

Re: Help Me Decide What Car I Should Drive

Allow me to give a 'European' opinion here.

I've never driven a Town car, but I've been driven in one quite often. And from the rear seat it's not bad. But even from the back you can feel that this is a car that is not very responsive, and provides little feedback. I guess it's OK for driving straight and wide roads, but it's certainly not a 'driver's car'. That makes it completely unattractive for me. Not being able to feel any road imperfections is a disadvantage as far as I'm concerned. That doesn't mean that it should be rock hard, many modern cars (and not just European) have shown that it's quite possible to make a car that's agile, responsive and fun to drive, yet relatively comfortable.
So if it's 'driving' you're concerned about, and not 'just' going from A to B in comfort, then I say go with the Nissan.
    Ron.
