On a more serious note, the Manx TT had 3 deaths during the last race. And those guys are mainly pro's, or very, very good.
Sadly, Speed Kills.

You are right, it does kill, but for some reason the younger drivers have that notion that they are invincible and sadly they either kill themselves or others.
I was Invincible once upon a time too. But I made it.
So there was the 22 year old kid that was just killed this afternoon in our city, the police aren't releasing many details but they suspect that speed played a role in the crash. A sad waste of another young life.

Speed does not kill. The sudden stop does :D

He hit the guard rail, I heard. That's nearly always lethal. When I worked at Cheetah Cycle we got a lot of wrecks in to do appraisals for insurance companies and the worst and most often fatal were the ones that met the guard rail. These invariably come from getting into a corner too hot for the rider to handle - excessive speed.
Ride safe.
We had a terrible accident here a few years ago involving a motorcyclist. He was flung free of the bike and hit the guardrail in the center of the highway at such a great rate of speed it acted almost like a razor. It was truly awful. It was very late at night and no other vehicles were involved. He simply lost control. Young soldier.

as some of you may know I work in roadway & bridge construction. a few months bak a guy on a cruiser was weaving in & out of traffic & ended up trying to go across 3 lanes to take an exit ramp. well, he missed it, & struck an attenuator (crash cusion at end of barrier wall) with his leg. it ripped off his leg from the knee down & he basically pinballed between the barrier wall & a car, finally landing on the other side of the wall. I believe he also lost his helmet & cracked his head open.
We ended up having the only major E/W expressway we have closed from about 5:30pm to 10pm. he had to be airlifted out & I hear he later died. I was out there with fire rescue picking up little pieces of his leg until about 9:30pm.
here the attenuator he hit (that little red thing near the white stripe on the bottom left is a piece of his femur)

I'm not going to lie, been there done that stupid stuff on my old bikes. I was fortunate enough that nothing happened to me or anybody else on the road with me @ the same time. I am seriously thinking of selling my supercharged car to get back onto to wheels again.
