Although I do not condone such stunts on motorcycles, I have to say that in my opinion distracted car drivers are far more dangerous than an idiot on a bike.
I have been riding for 13 years. During that time I have lived in metropolitan areas, as well as in small towns.
Distracted drivers are #1 menace on public roads.

56 mins? Wow. I know that route, and that's insane!

Actually, rapists get 20 to life, murderers get 25 to life, on average. For attempted murder, which driving as these videos show deserves, easily justifies a 10 to 20 years in prison sentence which means they must serve 10 before being eligible for parole. And the threat of also losing their drivers license for life if caught is an excellent deterrent. And that's the point of harsh sentences, isn't it? To deter the offender from committing the crime in the first place?

I mean, can't you appreciate that what we see in these videos goes way beyond just a speeding ticket or a few points on a drivers license? Can't you appreciate that just one tiny error by the driver and someone is going to die from this insanely selfish criminal activity? Therefore it deserves a harsh penalty in order to deter attempting such a crazy stunt from the get go. Our first priority must be deterrence, and if that fails, then a harsh and permanent legal remedy must be societies immediate fallback position.

Uneconomical and not even particularly "humane" solutions.
Surgical removal of the thumb(s) would be much more effective in case of deliberate, reckless endangerment.
He will still be able to drive a car.

Anyone who has lost his thumb(s) in this way, is caught driving a car recklessly, should then have one foot removed, and have it replaced with a prosthetic with a chip that shuts down the engine of any vehicle of which he is in the driver's seat.
    The end.

I really don't give a d@nm what these stupid people do, as long as they only hurt themselves in the process. The thing that irks me the most is that it give the rest of us law-abiding motorcyclist a bad name/perception in the public eye.

My solution is both humane and a rational deterrent to committing the crime in the first place. Any legislator who dared to even submit a bill to surgically remove an offenders thumbs would probably be recalled by the voters in his district as too deranged to serve in a public capacity. And when we're speaking of todays politicians, that's pretty deranged.

You shouldn't take the criticisms on this thread regarding these ignorant and criminal schmucks personally at all. Speaking for myself, I am singularly condemning anyone who would speed through heavily trafficked roadways at between 2 and 5 times the speed of the innocent car drivers, around them. But what those criminals do in no way reflects on the responsible bikers who use their bikes responsibly just as 95% of the rest of licensed drivers do.

As usual, it's a small minority of the whole that takes the privilege of driving to an extreme. As a car driver, I don't take criticism of this type of moron, personally at all, and neither should you. This video shows many examples of crazy and irresponsible car drivers:

I've had discussions with friends of mine regarding car chases, we all agreed that if given the chance, officers should be able to use lethal force to stop these lunatics before they kill someone. Most cop cars now carry fully automatic weapons that can quickly take out a criminal trying to run from them. I know there would be many that disagree with this method of stopping a high speed chase. Ask them again if it was one of their family members that was killed by one of these buffoons. I'm sure that they would change their minds. Especially if it saves the life of an innocent victim(s).

Good on you but if that image in your avatar is of you, I'd think about an image consultant and a little plastic surgery...

Use the removing body parts of criminals depending on what crimes they commit as your platform, ok? That ought to clarify your mental issues for the voting constituency, in short order. Oh, and don't forget to use your avatar picture on every yard placard.

Years ago I watched a demonstration of a new invention intended for cops that would make car chases a thing of the past. It's an electronic device that when aimed at the offending car and activated, it immediately shorts out the electrical system and stops the car in its tracks. It doesn't harm the driver in any way but completely disables the vehicle be it a car or a bike.

Now, why isn't one in every police car in the USA today, you ask? The answer is because it burns out the wiring harness of the vehicle requiring around 2500.00 dollars worth of repair to get the car running again. In my opinion, anyone crazy enough to endanger innocent lives in a high speed chase deserves that precise outcome for their beloved car or bike.

And once again, if such a device was a reality that every driver was aware of being used against them, high speed chases would become a thing of the past because drivers would understand the futility of it. It could also be SOP that anyone who requires this tool to be used against a vehicle they are driving would also be responsible for all repairs resulting from the shut down procedure.
