I played around with Minix way back. I would make changes to the kernel, compile, and then watched as the OS failed to work at all until I took my changes back out.
Happy birthday Linux! I've played around with different distros since 2003, and have tried everything from custom-built Gentoos to out-of-the-box Ubuntus. It surely has come a long way since its birth, and development seems to be continuing at a respectable pace.
