    RANT

A couple of days ago, we went to our favourite steakhouse. We were served by a new staff member.
When she asked about what food we would like, she did not ask "which steak" and which side we wanted.
    She asked this:
    Which Protein.
Then she asked Which Temperature we wanted the Protein in.
    Next question was:
    Which Starch.
She got the "Vegetable" bit right.

It is the first time anybody has been as clinical as that. Weird way to ask, I almost lost my appetite.
I told her that I had no clue about at what Temperature the Chef should heat up the skillet to, but that I wanted the Sirloin Medium Rare.
I felt she got a little bit upset.

Has anybody else had the same experience?

Edit: Forgot to mention that when she came with my Beer (German Becks) it had a chunk of Lime in it. And no glass. Yes, I send it back. And asked for a glass.... She did not like that either.......

Did she ask if you wanted a carbohydrate basket with your meal?
If only I had more arms... and deeper pockets!

Becks with a lime in it would be akin to an apple pie with a turd in it.

I believe that should be phrased 'post primary meal consumption sugar intake gap-filler' or some such.

Damn that new line of subservient robot units, we haven't perfected the personality chipset just yet. We hope you will return as they learn by experience.

25%. I always tip that in the restaurants where I am a "known" customer.

The tip is shared among the staff.

I think they should rename it to " ***********, the Best Charred Protein" ?

No, no post protein sugar dish, just a chemically altered roasted seed beverage.

You said its your favorite restaurant and the girl was new. Why not just drop them a nice note? Could just be a simple training issue.

    Re: RANT

You are right. I will speak to the head server. He is usually the guy serving us.
    Italian. Knows his stuff.
Do not misunderstand me, she was professional first. It was her choice of words....

edit: well, to screw up the brew with a Lime was not that professional, but I guess lots of tourists request that, maybe.

Not sure if the Lime is a cultural thing, she was from US or Canada. Maybe that is what people in those countries like in their lighter pilsner beers ? New fashion? Corona and Sol is always served with a Lime here, unless you manage to stop them.
