Watched Daybreakers. Typical Liongate movie with the blood and gore, and it included an interesting concept of having vampires being able to transform back into humans.
Personally, I didn't enjoy the film that much - I give it a C-.![]()

"Ghost Writer". Good movie, excellent cast, well acted... this is Roman Polaski's attempt at a Hitchcock genre. Interesting story that keeps you guessing til the end. Surprise ending, too. (did I review this one already? Or am I just having deja vu all over again?)
"The Jones" Forgettable David Duchovny/Demi Moore flick. Barely watchable. I rented it because the wife is a big DD fan. Here's the Trailer: YouTube - 'The Joneses' Trailer HD
Can I put in a plug for an "old" movie that I really liked, but one that didn't get a lot of promotion or press? Yeah? Thanks! Its called "Miracle Mile". Its about a guy who finds real love one night, only to discover that it might all end suddenly because of a possible nuclear exchange between the US and the USSR. Its a lot better than it sounds. Taut script. Good acting. Suspenseful. Surprise ending. It probably would have been more popular if it had an "A" List cast. It stars a young Anthony Edwards and Mare Winningham. Here's the trailer: YouTube - Miracle Mile Movie Trailer
Anyone else have a favorite movie that nobody saw?
Oh, I'm happy to report that I found out this weekend that they are filming Edgar Rice Burroughs' "John Carter of Mars". Excellent! I loved those books as a kid. Has the makings of a great movie. Any other ERB fans out there? Can't wait to see Tars Tarkus (Wilem Defoe) as well as Dejah Thoris' costume.![]()

UPDATE: While on a business trip to Philadelphia a couple of weeks back, I was able to take a couple of hours and go see the Barnes Collection, in-person. WOW! What an art collection! Very impressive. Very interesting. If you enjoy art even the least bit, you owe it to yourself to see this collection. It truly is a once-in-a-lifetime experience - especially, since they limit the number of people who can see the collection and since its going to be moved and 'modernized' with a new building in the heart of downtown Philly.
I was also amazed at the priceless examples of early American furniture that is displayed alongside the artwork. There wasn't any information on the furniture, but its obviously the work of master craftsmen.
Oh, and I was a little off on my appraisal of the collection. Its not valued at $4 Billion dollars (USD). Its more like $25 - $35 BILLION (USD). Just wanted to correct this small error.

REPO MEN, with Jude Law and Forrest Whitaker. The previews were far better than the movie. I was let down, perhaps a "D". Nice sound track though.
Be well,
Darin
I watched Ghost Writer and it was pretty good, but I wasn't blown away. I didn't find the "surprise" ending very surprising. The ghost was always at least a step behind the villain who was so obviously manipulating him that I couldn't believe he couldn't see it.
I also thought it dragged in places, but I'm not a huge Roman Polanski fan anyway.
I'd give it a B-
Jeannie
Watched the A-Team on the plane. A great action flick, with a good cast. I have a feeling there will be a sequel.
I rate this one a B+.
Also watched Letters to Juliet on the plane. Not terribly my type of movie, but it was not bad. Ladies will probably enjoy this one.
I give it a B.
Nice, it is in my que.
Be well,
Darin
