That must be a fun job, although only when the performance is good. I sometimes listen to audiobooks on my walk to work and I've had to give up on quite a few because they were so poorly read.
Best one recently was 'The Business' by Iain Banks which was a good book beautifully performed.

Currently reading "The Greatest Trade Ever" descrbing how Paulson & Co made $15b in one trade shorting the mortgage market.

Previously read "This time is different: 8 centuries of financial folly" and prior to that "Stabilising an unstable".

All have been great for different reasons.

I'm reading a thriller written by Mikkel Birkegaard, the Dutch translation of the book, the original title is "Over mit lig". I'm also reading "Press on!" by Chuck Yeager.

Re: What is a book you are currently reading or recently read

just finished "bable 17" by samuel r delany. its a very good read, a little bit on the short side, you'll fly right through it in 2 days and enjoy it.

last night i started "the stars my destination" by alfred bester only read 50 pages so far but seems to be a decent read so far.

of the 3 books that have most influenced my life as they were read many years ago while i was a teenager, 2 happen to have been written by robert a heinlein, they are "the moon is a harsh mistress" and "stranger in a strange land" . the third is the ever frightful "1984" by george orwell

the first book made me political the second made me an atheist and the third made me aware of the lengths some will go to get power and remain there.

even if sci/fi isn't your cup of tea these 3 books are well worth reading, if you have any interest in sociology, psychology and life in an authoritarian world. i would recommend these books to anyone.

ps if you read "1984" think of all the people living in north korea and all the other people who exist under oppressive regimes around this world of ours. never take your freedoms for granted or worse let someone else take them for granted.{purely for comedic effect.

pps many dont consider "1984" as sci/fi but many do. its a hard book to put into a specific genre but generally it can be classed as classic and must read

Come to SF and visit Muir Woods - I think you'll enjoy it. It was a free day last Saturday so I took my mother in law who's still staying with us (5 weeks is a long time!) tramping for a few hours. Parking is limited there so if you go, make sure you beat the crowds by going early.
