What do you think about Cider?

Hard cider, that is. Do you think the general perception of cider is that it is a "girly" drink, given its sweetness? But, then again, it has the same or sometimes more alcohol content than beer. It is also the original colonial American alcoholic beverage. Yet, with the trend today, with all of the mixers and sweet alcoholic drinks, cider seems to be left on the wayside of "OK" drinks to have as a guy.

Disclaimer: Please don't lash out at me for not being PC, or anything like that, as I do not intend the term "girly" and certain drinks portrayed as women's drinks to be demeaning towards women (or men) in any way. This is a legitimate question I have come across when I decided to purchase cider on a number of occasions.

What do you guys and gals think?

I actually like cider, especially during the holidays. But given its sweetness, I normally tend to drink it towards the end of a meal (like with port or ice wine).

I like cider. Is not that I am going to drink that every time I go out, but its good for special occasions. I know during holidays Im going drink some.

Warm apple cider with a little cinnamon is always good after a little skiing, skating, or shoveling snow.

love it. never heard it referred to as girly.

i like Doc's Draft Hard Cider. not sweet, a little dry, with great mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. a little rough, like something you might let happen in your 'fridge.

if not that, then homebrew. we've usually got about one carboy of cider to every ten of beer going in the basement of the house where our brewing circle meets.

I like Cider. I mostly drink Beer, but alternate with Cider.
The British and Irish make some excellent Ciders. I used to buy locally made Scrumpy. The range went from very dry to sweet.

Now I have to buy factory made stuff. I like Magners (Irish) the best.

I have never heard that cider was considered a "girls drink." If you like it, drink it.

I've never heard of negative connotations regarding cider. Used to be in my fridge quite a bit. Good stuff.

I love hard ciders. Although I'm pretty much a beer snob, I'll definitely drink some cider. I used to catch a lot of flak when I was in the military from most of the other guys, but I drank it because I liked it. I haven't had one thing from Woodchuck that I disliked. Their limited ciders that come in the variety packs are, how should say..."Off the chain". I even hooked some of my Army buddies on it. Its not like its a hard lemonade, wine cooler, Smirnoff Ice, or Zima...
