I found 'Borat' by Sascha Baron Cohen to be the most powerful movie, I have ever watched.

It really imbued me with a set of values, and high moral standards, that I try and live with every waking moment.

No I don't got a watch can you spare a dime,
But I got two olives and a couple of limes,

    On my list, along with:

-Samson & Delilah (2009 Australian film, nothing to do with religion or those figures) - If you are Australian, watch this film, it is a film that needs to be seen.
-The Gods Must be Crazy (1980) - A powerful story, but also an interesting perspective on society.
-V for Vendetta (2005) - Seen this more times than I can recall, probably 20+ times. Masterpiece.
-Gran Torino (2008) - Great modern western.
-Rebel Without a Cause (1955) - There's a reason this film is still talked about, and the influence it had.
-Donnie Brasco (1995) - Awesome style design, awesome dialogue, awesome plot (based on a true story).
-A Few Good Men (1992) - Made some really intense scenes out of what could potentially be very boring. The Social Network needed to live up to something like this (it did not!).
-The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly - For me the best Western I have seen.

-Many more I am now forgetting (classics!).

The Great Dictator - Chaplin's masterpiece
Stone Fox - I usually don't get sentimental whilst watching movies, yet somehow this one always does the trick
    Der Untergang
Grave of the Fireflies (Hotaru no Haka)
Pan's Labyrinth (El Laberinto del Fauno)

You know, I really didn't expect to like this movie (not a big fan of Bill Paxton) but it turned out to have such character. This was the one that put Philip Seymour Hoffman on the map. I used to be a meteorologist in the USAF, so that scored another point for me.

Some really great movies listed! So many of them are on my "re-watch" list. Band of Brothers is a terrific mini-series; I got it as a gift and I've watches it about 5 times now, about once every other year I go through it. It is filed right along side Saving Private Ryan. The Shawshank Redemption is another classic, so very well done. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman at their best. Good Will Hunting is another very touching one. Gladiator has everything in it, including astounding special effects that make everything seem so real.

I haven't seen "The Great Dictator" in it's full length, just the ending part with Chaplin's phenomenal speech. It amazes me how poignant it is even for our times.

There is one singular movie that has made a mark so deep and indelible on my psyche that it has changed my behavior forever.

When I am enjoying the outdoors, having a great time, everything is tranquil and peaceful. Until. Off in the distance, I can hear a sound.....

A woodpecker! There is nothing like the sound of a woodpecker searching for bugs.

    Except for......

    The Predator.

Then I look around for the tell tale shimmer.

Goonies was a movie that I watches 100 times when I was a kid, love every minute of it and even went to the 25th Anniversary Reunion a few years ago in Astoria, Oregon where it was filmed. I see it on TV once in a while and it reminds me of growing up.

I have 2 movies that are emotionally exhausting to watch. They suck me in every time but I'm spent when they are over.

The Fisher King-Jeff Bridges is his usual excellent self and Robin Williams couldn't have been any better. Best role I've seen him in.
Awakenings - Again Robin Williams is great but Robert Deniro knocked this one out of the park. Holy depressing, Batman.
