That guy turned on his auctioneer-er fast talk on in a second. Found that very amusing.
I think you're looking at this video in a different point of view.... this is supposed to be for fun and to raise money for charity.
These types of things, like the video, is just a room full of decently wealthy people that came knowing they were going to donate money to some charity (i assume thats where these proceeds are going), and auctioning off a kiss is just that little incentive for people to donate a little more than they would. So its really not about paying money for the kiss, its more or less just a fun way to donate to charity. This stuff is normal and just in good fun. I've been to events like this where they have a few quirky auctions.
Now, if i saw a hot celeb walking down the street and she said, "give me $1000 and you can kiss me", i'd most likely pass.

Actually, charity is a good cover for being a horn dog. I have my reservations about donating to charity, mainly because you don't know how much of the money actually gets to those in need. I prefer to help people more directly - volunteering, etc.
