* What makes a watch VALUE FOR MONEY ? Why Ennebi is hailed while Kobold crucified ? *

After 3 kobolds and one great disappointment with their CS, I got rid of them, but the love was extinguished. However, the design of their watches appeals more to me then Ennebi, which I really don't get. But that is my personnel taste, and I can't judge their quality, because I never owned one. Kobold step into the spot light, did and does a lot of product placement, has celebs on their payroll, and so on....Unfortunately, thy don't really care to much about the " little" WUS and many people couldn't follow the price strategy. But they aim for the Rolex/ Omega community, so being seen with "us" might not improve their reputation ). Many people really loved Kobold, and like in real life, their emotions turned sour. I don't think Ennebi has and will ever have the same buzz and fan crowd. They fly below the radar, and they seem to have never disappointed their fans.
But maybe I'm totally wrong.

.........Although I probably agree with you based on my light skimming of your research paper above. Kobold has plenty of WIS fans to go along with his critics. He is also criticized for the pandering to celebrities. Ennebi seems like more art watches.

An interesting question! While I do think Kobold watches are priced in the statosphere, I do think that they are quality watches. The older Kobolds with the ETA movements are basically entirely Fricker made divers (not sure what is going on now, with their "Made in Pittsburgh" labeling) and Fricker makes some of the best dive watches money can buy.

Meh, Navy Seals and SF guys don't wear kobold watches in combat, hahaha. I like the looks of Kobold watches, but I just can't justify the price point on one with how some of their pieces are marketed. 5k for a watch doesn't appeal to certified bad-a$$es in our military, and certainly not to a regular infantryman like me. I think in many ways I could appreciate the Ennebi over a Kobold for the "art" vs the "Navy Seals" approach to marketing. If I wanted "Seal" marketing I'd buy a Luminox for a very small fraction of the cost. Just a lil' view for a soldier's view on this discussion.
