Thumbs Up 3 years later and it is still my favourite dive companion...

I bought this watch new when it first came out. I had a couple SBBN007 but never bonded well with them...

This all changed with the introduction of the 015. It was honestly like Seiko heard my cries and made the changes I wanted to see in the watch...namely:

    - Black ceramic bezel
    - Bracelet (and a damn nice one at that)
    - Signed crown
    - Brushed Shroud (not bead blasted)
    - Matte hands (I hated the foil like look of the old ones)

It is the only Seiko I own at the moment. It had to fight off stiff competition from it's Seiko Professional siblings. I might add an SBDB001 or SBGA031 soon but this one will stay...

I very foolishly sold it to a guy in Holland some months back. I knew I commited a grave mistake as soon as I was packing it ready for delivery. I did this to buy a limited edition NOS 1000m Golden Tuna. However I asked this gentleman to kindly offer it to me first should he decide to sell it. A few months back I got an e-mail from him and man was I glad! Now she will be mine forever...

Whenever I am going on a dive, and am getting excited...say going on a wreck I've never been to before or one at depth etc...she is the natural choice. I simply know that it will not let me down whatever I throw at it. It is BY FAR the most serious dive watch I've ever had the absolute pleasure of owning. For around 1000Euros new it is an absolute bargain. Thank you Seiko.

Thanks for listening to my love story....have a good day all!

    Cheers from Malta, Etienne

Wow, that looks way too fun!

Great story, great pics, and a great watch. I love my 015. It looks well made, purposeful, and reads great in or out of the water. And that's not even mentioning its ridiculous accuracy.

My only fear with the 015 is that I'll use it too much and one day not be able to find another!

    Thanks for sharing, bro!

    BTW, what wreck is that?

+1 for the OP and congrats for getting an awesome piece back.

Further, I agree on all points. This watch ticks all the right boxes for me too. I used to think that the fact that it's quartz would bother me, but even that has become a plus point. The quartz movement offers grab and go convenience and superb accuracy. And I've learned that this particular movement is built for withstanding the shock of rough environments, found only in Seiko's professional diver's line, particularly the legendary Tuna can watches.

This Tuna is my favorite serious business diver and the one Seiko that will stay forever, well at least a very long time.

I didn't know the bezel was ceramic though! This new tidbit makes me the love the watch even more. Thank you for sharing. My Tuna will only face the threat of incoming desk diving scratches, but it's good to know that his brother's out there exploring sunken wrecks.

Don't worry about using it too much...with the brushed shroud it is easier than ever to refinish to like new in the future!

I am not 100% sure but I think these are from the Um El Faroud wreck. I have been there at least 5 times and still really enjoy it...

The story behind this ship is very sad though : Um El Faroud - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The article is not 100% correct though as the seabed is an average of 35m depth and you should expect to dive at around 25-30m to explore the wreck...plenty of sea life there though !

It's a Seiko that is not hard to like, built for diving, ceramic bezel is a great addition to an already great design.

Hehe, I was being half facetious about using it too much, but it is nice to know that the shroud takes the hardest of Knocks for the watch.

That is a sad story about the wreck, but I guess that's what attracts me to them. It's amazing to see some of these ships on the bottom and wonder at the lives they led and their last moments afloat.

Of course, purpose sunk ships generally go more quietly than most of their brethren. But that's fine be me. I still think it is more fitting to lay a ship to rest at sea to become home to new life than to turn it into razor blades in some sad dry dock!

I enjoyed this thread so much yesterday, I had to go out and take some more pics of my Tuna! LOL!

    Thanks again, my friend!

    My favourite Seiko diver...full stop.

After owning lots and lots of 'em, ranging from SKX007 to the MM300 SBDX001, it's the one that stuck, and will be with me forever. The day that this one showed up at our doorstep, the postman had to leave the card, 'cause I was at the hospital witnessing the birth of my first-born! (picked it up on the way back to the hospital the next day ) Can't believe it's almost been a year, now...
