I'd have to go with a Benarus, never had any issues when I owned them.

I'm thinking Helson. Shark Divers are awesome.

A man's watch is a very cherished thing. You steal that, you might as well be stealing his soul.
Are you asking about "major" brand or "micro" brand?
IMO, country of origen is less important to me than the quality standards and supply chain control of the brand owner. In my personal collection, I would not hesitate to dive with my OWC as I know the owner individually inspects and tests each case to its full 300 meter rated depth.
I have also just received a CREPAS TC2 which I also would not hesitate to dive with due to their solid reputation. Mine will be in the ocean on Friday if my work week allows.
Confidence in the manufacture's quality inspection process, reputation in the industry based upon my research, and solid warranty are the criteria I use when deciding if a watch is getting wet.
Any of them. That is, if I were a diver. No reason to think they wouldn't hold up. When I swam when I owned a lot of micros, I didn't give it a second thought. Slap watch on wrist, dive in pool. I guess my answer would be Zixen.

I'm in the any of them crowd. Dive watches - when used for diving - can be charitably called redundancies in the event of a computer failure, and in actuality are really not much more than anachronistic nods to the past. I love them because they remind me of a time when men and women, far braver than I, explored the depths with little more than a dive watch and USN Tables to return safely. Very cool.
That said, they aren't really needed any longer. If I buy a Chinese cased watch and I dive with it and it fails - well, I wasted money, but I didn't put myself in any real risk. And frankly, it wasn't much of a dive watch anyway - so good riddance.

"Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much... the wheel, New York, wars, and so on, whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely the dolphins believed themselves to be more intelligent than man for precisely the same reasons."

Two things:
First: if you buy a case rated to 300 / 500 / 1000 / 2000 meters and are afraid to dive it to 33 m or less, don't buy such junk :)
Second: I partially agree with TheWalrus. While the vast majority of divers use dive computers or bottom timers (if you swing to the dark side) but there are still some who happily dive with just a depth gauge and a watch, especially in known locations or if diving square profiles using dark side tables... If you don't get the dark side references, don't worry about it. :)
Picture because I like my old school depth gauge.
FWIW, I dive the Citizen on the left ;)
