If there is a date, then a cyclops is helpful. My eyes are not what the used to be. Not to mention it's such an iconic feature on Rolex watches (and others). I used to not like them, but have seen the light...

Not a fan, to me it looks like an afterthought... just my 2cents.

I like the date cyclops but it is really easy to get it scratched when you are not careful.

I prefer no date and minimal text.
So the cyclops is a superfluous extravagance. imo.
I can remember the day and the date and my memory is only average.

I think they look fine on SOME watches. And of course the cyclops has to function properly.
I am not alerted when someone quotes any post of mine. So please do not be offended if I don't respond.

I always put function over form, and I appreciate the effort of thinking in terms of looking for solutions to potential issues. Therefore, the cyclops doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I leave the sterile dial wants to the German Flieger and Bauhaus dress watches where that appeal makes more sense.

    Formerly, I hated the cyclops.

Now, not only do I like the looks of it, I appreciate the magnification.

Re: Do you actually like the look of a cyclops?

I posted on this zombie thread a couple of years ago that I only like the cyclops on the vintage, plexi 1680 Subs. Since then, I picked up its Tudor sibling. As of now, I only like the cyclops on two watches and I have both: vintage plexi/acrylic Submariners and the Muhle SAR (internal cyclops). FWIW I generally prefer no-date.
