Do you wear your dive watch while diving?

    Hola!

Now I am well aware that not everyone who owns dive watches necessarily dives, but for those who do, do you wear a watch while diving? I do SCUBA diving and free diving. While SCUBA diving I normally wear a watch opposite of my dive computer. The reason being is that the computer is wireless, and loses sync with the transmitter that is on the tank. I like to know how long I have been down without guessing. While free diving I don't wear anything since I'm only down for a few minutes.

    How about you?

I do, both SCUBA and free diving, with SCUBA it is most handy as a navigation aid, knowing how long you travel a bearing track helps with the return trip, while free diving I like to keep track of how long I've been in the water, the water I dive is usually fairly cold and I try to get back to the boat before cramping sets in {usually about 45 to 55 minutes and I'm ready to warm up}.

I also use a watch for total dive time, I wear two computers one uses wireless too, all you lose when the connection fails is air pressure {some have a heart rate monitor too} so it shouldn't matter on the dive timer end of things.

certainly. My watches have to go where I go.

Yes. SCUBA, freediving and snorkeling. On simple profiles I often use the watch only, but then I was trained with Navy tables in the years before dive computers.

If my wife ever caught me diving without a watch, she would immediately conclude, "I guess you don't need to buy any more dive watches then!"

We can't have that, so there's always a watch on my wrist!

Always, it's just smart to have a manual back up timer to support your dive computer.

I am a certified diver but unfortunately it's been many years since I dove.

I do however wear my dive watches every weekend out on the lake boating & swimming.

Even if you have no interest in the time, where else are you going to store a watch while swimming / diving? Body cavity???? I know some people are obsessive about drag but come on!

I sometimes wonder if the wrist part of the wrist watch concept is clear to people. You strap watches to your wrist and leave them there because the wrist is attached quite firmly to the body and you are unlikely to lose it somewhere, even when diving. If you do lose your wrist you probably won't care so much about the watch that went with it anyway. Yes, you could strap it to your ankle or swallow it and do the same job but why? The wrist is traditional and convenient.

Needles to say: yes, while diving, bicycling, kayaking, flying, sailing, driving, motorcycling, talking, walking, chewing,....
