Drawbacks & Benefits to owning charmex cx 20,000feet swiss miliatry watch 20000

I have paid $2500 for my cx 20,000 watch. I am just curious to know
lets say 5 yrs from now, will I still be able to recoup my money if
    I had to?

Also, if properly taken care of, will this watch oultast its owner, the
    way Rolex dive watches do?

Apart from the weight and thickness primarily, you see anydrawbacks to
    owningthe CX 20K?

It will not hold it's value because there is little demand for the given supply of them. Simply put, the Charmex is too big for most people to wear comfortably everyday.

Since it has an off the shelf movement (eta 7750), it should last a long time with occasional servicing.

I agree with you ... company is relatively unknown and the watch is a behemoth ---- I bought it at 50% off retail ----
retail is $4000---- so I am just wondering how much more will I lose most likely? Ihave $2500 into it -----

    thnx

This is just my opinion but I think it will last a long long time and for the same reason most Rolex last so long. It will last because it will spend nearly all of its time in a drawer not on a wrist, although not for the same reason. It is simply to large {tall} to be seen in on a daily basis. Long term value? Who knows what silly trends will resurface in the future, people today are happily wearing some of the ugliest watches in history {much of the 70's watches are hideous} but I wouldn't count on it. If you like it great, I think you'll get tired of having it knocking into things.

Just check the sales forum and ebay. That will give you a clue. Charmex's offerings on the latter are pretty ghastly. They even have a watch that uses a Citizen Skyhawk case?!?!

Hmmm, the majority of rolex watches live on their owners wrists and you do see them everywhere. They owe their longevity to a good robust movement design, excellent quality control in assembly and a good aftersales service dept. Very few of the nearly a million units made very year will sit in safes collecting dust.

As to the CX watch? With regular servicing it should last a lifetime as it uses a reliable movement and e warch itself it almost bombproof.

Enjoy wearing it, I certainly appreciate the engineering that went into the design.

Rolex makes something like 5 to 10 million watches per year, I don't know where you live but I haven't seen a rolex in the wild in years. Rolex are one of the few brands that get sold as like new year after year, I think most sit is drawers and are only pulled out for "special" occasions.

SMW's Quality is superb, resale sucks but then most resale does. Will it outlast YOU? YEP no problemo, why would'nt it?.

I think with this SMW 20k, it is one of those watches that you should know before buying that it will be a keeper for you, otherwise don't buy one, that way no loss.
I got 4 20k's and I know I will keep them all, so not at all worried about the resale.
Just a note about the size, the Marathon CSAR is bigger but thinner, the Benarus Ti47 is about the same size but thinner,The H20 is bigger but thinner the only thing that makes this watch seem so massive is the thickness, 10mm thick crystal? can't be a slim-jim not for 20,000ft, thick caseback, not for a 200m but 6000+meter, can't be made of thin Taiwan tinsle.
