Ekranoplan Diver - Caspian Sea Monster!

    Hi,

I received yesterday a Vostok Europe Ekranoplan (model 5457106)... It's a 47mm 200 M dive watch with trigalight micro tubes. I went for the model 5457106, with a dark green dial and a gray bezel insert. I got serial number 0069/3000. I like that

Here's a quick review and a few fresh pictures.

    Pros:
    -100% original design.
-Nice combination of black and gray PVD coated stainless steel.
-Excellent build quality. No flaws at all. Everything is nicely aligned. It was made with care and precision.
-Tritium tube markers. They stay bright all the time (for approx 10 years). No need to charge them.
-Nice decorated and modified Vostok 2432 automatic movement.
-Large but "wearable" watch, thanks to the short lugs to lugs distance - only 52mm - and the flat case back.

    Cons:
-Useless day/night indicator (who needs this!).
    -Outdated date adjustment.
    -No hacking.
-Mineral crystal (at this price I expect Sapphire).
-Thin bezel. For a 47mm dive watch I would expect something larger.
-Integrated silicone strap. The strap is attached to the case with a curved 25mm spring bar. It's impossible to replace it with something else, the lugs are too short for a regular strap or bracelet. This is a big problem.

Overall I give it a 7.5/10. It would have been a 9/10 with a normal strap system.

    On my 7.5 inches wrist.

The Ekranoplan with a Glycine Lagunare and the good old Tissot Seastar 1000 M. As you can see the Ekranoplan is massive.

I know I've said this before, but man 'o man I wish there was a bracelet to fit this delightful beast. I'd snap it up immediately.

I still want to buy one, but without a bracelet it is bumped just slightly down my list of priorities.

Very nice, congratulations on this! The integrated strap doesn't bother me at all, but the no hacking and no quick-set date does.

I liked the ekranoplan until I read this review. To many big things on the "cons" column.

    Great visual design, terrible features.

Really sweet piece man, it's too bad it utilizes a mineral. Great shots though too.

I guess the whole curved spring bar and strap system is their[Vostok's] own way of ensuring you have to buy their brand of straps/bracelets. I like to wear custom straps so this is a pet peeve of mine.
Other than this, great looking watch, I think the bezel and case back are real sharp; enjoy wearing it!

That is a great looking watch. A couple of the cons would get to me, but if the price is right then a little compromise is fine. (I have no idea what these things sell for)
