Question GMT Diver : Zinex Zulu or Doxa Sub 750 GMT ?

    Hi Guys,

Nothing really interesting for me in term of vintage for the time being so I turn myself to new watches and was thinking about to add a GMT diver to my collection.

I would like your opinion on which one you would choose and why ?

Other contenders from other boutique brands are wellcome ie. MKII LRRP ( Yao on a new GMT project but might be too late for me... ) etc if you feel that it is more interesting but I focus on ETA 2893-2 only.

Hmm...Interesting but personally I don't like the look of it. This is why launching a new model is not necessarily a success.

Of the three you've mentioned (Doxa, Zixen, MKII) I've owned the 750T GMT and the LRRP GMT (also had the Zixen Trimex GMT). I would have to say go for the Doxa although it is a tough call as I love MKII. The 750T GMT looks great and has the 3 timezone capability and the 2893-2 movement, the BOR bracelet and a great brand history.

I think the Zinex Zulu uses a modified 2836-2, not a 2893-2. Just an FYI.

For the price of the Doxa you can get either a Sinn 857 (less money) or a Sinn U2 EZM (about $100 more). I would suggest both the Sinn options due to their hardened cases and more advanced technical features - especially the U2.

Doxa for me, 2893 and a 3rd timezone, not bad at all

of the three you mentioned- i'd be all over the Doxa Caribbean. the MKII is a very close second but would be first if it had monochrome bezel markers (the colors leave me cold)

Re: GMT Diver : Zinex Zulu or Doxa Sub 750 GMT ?

    Hi!

Given all the positive words I've read about Zixen, regarding both quality and customer service, and having owned a regular 750T myself, I'd vote for the Zulu.
I think the overall quality impression and finish of the Doxa, and I even dare to compare with my Seiko Frankenmonsters, is just not equal to its high price.
The Seiko, for example, has both nicer finished dial and a better fitting bracelet, all for $250...

(Please everyone, don't attack me now, we were asked for opinions, here is mine...)

    Cheers

    Martin
